Boy, 5, Robbed At Birthday Party
Boy, 5, Robbed At Birthday Party

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Three teenagers were arrested after police said they robbed a 5-year-old boy on Saturday.

Antom Stargell said he opened the front door of his south side home with his birthday money pinned to his shirt, 10TV's Brittany Westbrook reported.

"They took my money and they put a gun up to me," Stargell told 10TV News.

Police said teenagers took the boy's $36 and ran.

"I called the police and the rest of the kids went to go find them," said Stargell's mother, Mia Tinsley.

Tinsley said that she knew who the suspects were.

1. the rest of the kids went to go find them?
*AFTER* they pulled a gun on one kid???

If the kids knew who the perpetrators were, calling the popo and identifying them seems like a much better option than a mob of 5-year olds hunting down armed teenagers.

2. I dunno, back in the hood people do things like that
One of my friends two doors down knew who killed his brother, and he torched the guy's house then ran him over later when he saw him at a grocery store (he did 6 years for that).

6. Not making any assumptions here ...

... about who was involved or what kind of neighborhood this happened in ...

But there was a '60 Minutes' piece on a few weeks back where they interviewed several inner city kids. Most, if not, all said they didn't trust the police to take care of their problems. That they would rather always take care of their problems themselves. I don't know how widespread sentiments like this go but it was an eye opener for me.

8. let me clarify:
Edited on Wed Apr-02-08 01:57 PM by alyce douglas
don't you think what is being done to others is acceptable to children (their perceptions) to act such behaviours out in public, thinking that this behaviour is the norm? Random acts of violence towards another person without thinking of consequences.

9. Guess what - random acts of violence w/o considering consequences is the norm through history
It's pretty much part of human nature and predatory behavior towards one's fellow man has been going on since day 1 in human history.
