CORRUPTION, THY NAME IS WYNN.

The very corrupt Democratic Congressmen Al Wynn, who was recently beaten in a Democratic primary by the not-corrupt reformer Donna Edwards, has surprised a lot of his colleagues by announcing that he'll retire before the end of his term. In order to take a lobbying job. But having announced this lobbying job, he's going to stay in Congress for a few months before he starts the new gig -- you know, to wrap up a few things, clean up his desk, big goodbye to beloved colleagues, and advocate for his lobbying clients while he's still a sitting member of Congress. Sometimes corrupt politicians make it hard to glimpse their true nature. You need all sorts of investigations and leaked documents to figure it out. It's rather nice of Wynn to remind us that yes, most of those pols who amass a reputation for corruption would indeed sell the public good down the river for a kind word and a Cosi sandwich.
