Hunger strike for impeachment

Kennebec Journal

AUGUSTA, ME – If you're driving by the Statehouse today around noon, you'll probably notice a woman protesting outside.

Sarah Swift, a 29-year-old mother of two from Gardiner, started a hunger strike last Thursday and is planning to be at the Capitol today.

What's her cause?

She wants President Bush and Vice President Cheney to be impeached, and she's outraged by the war in Iraq.

"It's a nonviolent way to make some impression," she said. "It's breaking my heart. This isn't my country."

She said she'll continue her protest later in the week in Portland. Like-minded individuals can learn more about the movement at peacethroughjustice.wordpress.com.
