Poll question: Which state is cursed with the crappiest pair of Senators?
Edited on Tue Apr-01-08 04:50 PM by marmar
Sorry Oklahomans, but IMO, you're the losers in this category. But I'm sure there are varying opinions.

On Edit: I changed the South Carolina category to Kentucky. Apologies to those who've already voted.

Lisa Murkowski appointed in an obvious(should this be legal) case of nepotism. Not as corrupt as her father but the apple can't roll that far from the tree.

And Ted Stevens- no one can top the guy that coined the phrase "the internet is a series of tubes"
Listen to him here- how can anyone this clueless have as much power as he does? Running again in his 80's he will be the longest sitting Republican Senator ever! Help!!

but if you throw in Representative Don Young, our lone congressman, I think Alaska has to "win" this one. In those other states, aren't there at least a few Democratic House members to kind of dilute the awfulness of the senatorial representation?

54. In CO we've got 2 doozies...
Wayne "Rubber Stamp" Allard, who thankfully will be retiring this year and Ken "DINO" Salazar. We had a lot of hope for Salazar when we elected him and one of the first things he does is proudly nominate Alberto Gonzalez for AG! Whenever one of those really close votes on vital issues loses, you can always count on finding Salazar's name on the list of "Dems" voting with the Repugs.

Maybe we'll do better when we elect a Dem to replace Allard. Too bad we have to wait 4 more years to get rid of Salazar.

Oh as for the poll, I had to go with my old home state Oklahoma for sentimental reasons.

So, they go to the front of the Military Industrial Complex list in a category.

I could work out a really complex, weighted formula for you, given all the data on corruption.
 to provide a more scientific determination.

Off the cuff, Stevens carries a lot of baggage by himself,
and may be worse than any other two combined.

There are some bad pairs in there, to be sure, but since Santorum's defeat Inhofe pretty much dominates the "worst senator" category. Coburn isn't quite as bad, but that's probably just because he doesn't have quite as much experience :(
