This I believe: Good things / bad things

Immunizations for the world good. Imposing our morals and culture upon foreign countries at the tip of a sword bad. Social welfare, good. Corporate welfare, errr... Well that's a toughie. See... Corporate welfare started for good reasons, but it's been perverted. Not all corporate welfare is bad. There are times when it's essential to assist companies through bad times or help them rebuild after disaster. There have been instances when technological advances and the needs of the country to enjoy the benefits of those advances have outstriped the abilities of private companies to expand (ie rural electrification). But the vast bulk of continuing corporate welfare is bad. Complete sexual / health education good. Religious based decision making in social policy / public education bad. Conserving the environment good. Turning food into fuel while many in the world starve and creating more impact on the environment than foreign oil does while we run gas guzling SUV's that we don't really need bad. Gay bashing politicians who later get caught in gay sex scandals bad. Keith Olberman good. Bill O'Reily bad. Patriotism good. Unquestioning loyalty to anything or anyone bad. Apple pie good. So is just about every cuisine from around the world. Avoiding buisnesses because the people behind the counter are brown bad. H1-B Visas good (I want US to have the world's best brains HERE, not over there). Companies leaving the USA bad.
