1. If it's common, probably.

Most stores will have a "spare" external ac adapter. It depends on what kind of laptop you have.

And where are you? I'm willing to help - PM me if needed.

7. Ack. I'll see what I can do.
It's past 9 in Orlando, so most stores will probably be closed, I'll do some checking.

11. cool.
You can go to Best Buy - and look for a Targus Universal Adapter - it'll set you back around $120, but it's universal so it'll most likely work with a Toshiba - Circuit City has a Toshiba specific adapter, but I'm not sure if it's in stock in Orlando. There are two Batteries Plus stores in Orlando, closes at 7:30 - so that's probably your best bet if you want to keep it cheap. I'd send you mine overnight (I also have a Toshiba Satellite, but it's A15-S127) if I could if you needed to borrow for a day or two...

17. I just looked at their website.
Unfortunately it doesn't look like they stock in store. You'd have to order it - you might want to call the local Wal-Mart and check. It's worth the investment. My father ALWAYS uses his Toshiba Satellite (another user, btw), so he leaves one permanently at home, and another in his laptop case. He also labels it so he knows which is which. And that darn thing has been in use for 4 years (Mine is about 5 years old).

2. Best Buy has them, ~$80 or so
yes, it's highway robbery, because the only people who buy them are people in your situation.

3. Try the local Batteries Plus if there is one
They have loads of them...I work for a computer repair company and we get them from there on a regular basis. Good luck! :hi:

4. Your best bet is a PC outlet store of some kind
not the big box stores. However, they're all likely closed now. Try a Best Buy or Circuit City.

6. They close at 9pm (at most stores)
so if he's EDT - he'll have to go to Wal-Mart 24 hour or something.

8. You also might want to try Radio Shack. A friend of mine visited from France & needed a US adapter.
It was relatively reasonable because it was their own brand.

10. Check at the front desk
If you are at a hotel, check the front desk first. People leave lots of adaptors behind, and they usually save them at the front desk for situations just like this. They'll most likely let you borrow it for your stay.

16. BEST TIP! It's worked for me...
You'd be surprised how many people leave their power supplies in hotel rooms and meeting rooms. Oh and if you ever need a phone charger call the front desk and ask if they have any. Chances are they will have one that some poor sap has left behind.

12. 3 hrs from home? I was 800 miles when
I realized I'd left my power supply at home. That truly sucks.

My suggestion is try IGo. Sold at most Radio Shack stores. They should have the ps you need with tips and attachments to charge your cellphone, Ipod, etc and use car power & airplane power. Unfortunately my brand new laptop had a special new plug so I ended up having to call HP and have them ship one to me at my hotel. Luckily my battery was new.

I feel your pain but if all else fails check out the IGo.

14. You did say what city you were in......
But Seattle is "Nerd Capital" we have pleanty of computer stores that sell used computer parts on the cheap. Give that a shot by looking in the phone book. You can also have a family member mail it to you express mail.

15. Buy and return when your trip is over
Make sure you note their return policy. Some are 14 days; some 30 days. Others have a restocking fee.

18. Same thing happened to me
got one for about 80 bucks at Best Buy, it has interchangable tips so it works on different models. I keep my spare now in the laptop PC case I use for travel as a double-check so I'll always have one. GOOD LUCK!
