5. I agree. I also am old. Not quite as old as John McCain (I'm 64), but I have felt for some time
that he does not look or appear to be healthy. I have wondered if it's possible that the country would elect someone who seems to be as unhealthy as he does, and if they did, what would it mean.

6. I'm not quite as old either.
But I went through a recent period of illness. I know myself well enough to look in the mirror and know when I am not healthy.

How can he do this to himself? Surely he knows that his health is suffering, and can only get worse as the campaign continues.

I swear if it was a younger candidate that looked that unhealthy THEY'D BE TALKING ABOUT IT. I really think they would be talking about it.

10. He's the best they have to offer...
Appeals to the Bushies, probably a good percentage of older Americans, and Corporations, so they will continue to reap billions from the war in Iraq.

The person to watch out for will be his choice for VP. I think a lot of Republicans also think he will not be able to finish out a full term, for one reason or another.

8. he / it just came on here
i just get an impression he's in the spot he's in, and doesn't really know how he got there. And there is a bus barreling down over him.

At one time John had some degree of respect here, not especially from me, but he was a vet, and i give him that degree of respect. After that he loses me.

again, he seems to be tossed in the forefront, and is doing what he can. Too bad it will not be enough.
Repugs are deservedly, finally, losers in most regards in more of the mainstream's eyes. This guy is trying to represent the group, and the turd doesn't want to shine.

he sounds almost apologetic. But, it's too late.

12. He is a walking epitome of the Republican Party
Old, unhealthy, skin cankered, hunched over, hard of hearing
ill mannered, unfunny, out of date, sickly and worn out.

13. Gramps Is Showing His Age...
And yes, this will be an issue as the campaign goes along. He has a lot of "senior moments" these days and all the "aw shucks" and corporate media felating won't cover it up.

What's more important is he's uncomfortable talking issues. He's stuck in a no-win position on Iraq that runs counter with more and more voters every day this illegal war for profit continues. He's stuck with a boooosh legacy of corruption, criminality, ineptness and disgrace. He has a very divided party that at least 70 percent of those voting in GOOP primaries voted against him and his support is a mile wide and a milimeter thick. Add to this walking into an unscripted television studio in front of an uncertain audience. Damn right Gramps was uncomfortable. This sure wasn't like the stop at the VFW.

Gramps will be hard-pressed to put his mind and body through what is sure to be a grueling general election. I don't see the fight in him I did in 2000 and his memory lapses are already starting to get him in trouble. A summer full of these gaffes and he may end up debating himself rather than whoemver the Democratic nominee is.
