Md. Boy, 12, Kills Man Attacking Mother
Officials Undecided On Filing Charges

By Avis Thomas-Lester and Hamil R. Harris
Washington Post Staff Writers
Wednesday, April 2, 2008; A01

The 12-year-old boy had finished his homework and was playing a video game when he heard his mother cry out. Rushing to her aid, he found her on the kitchen floor, straddled by a fellow resident of their Prince George's County boarding house, the man's hands wrapped tightly around her neck, the boy said yesterday.

"I kept saying, 'Stop! Stop! Stop!' " the boy said, describing the events of Monday night. "But he just ignored me. He didn't stop. He just kept hurting her."

The boy said he grabbed a knife and swung, slashing 64-year-old Salomon Noubissie across the neck and opening an artery. Noubissie was fatally wounded.

The mother, Cheryl Stamp, said she did not immediately understand what had happened. "What did you do?" she said she asked her son.

3. Kid is a hero.

Its sad that such a small child should have to take on such a difficult responsibility, but he did and he seems to be in a reasonably good place with what he did (i.e., not happy about it, but realizes it was the right thing to do).

4. THis boy did what he had to do. The attacker appears to have been
psychotic and extremely violent, and VERY dangerous.

They better NOT file any charges against him.

5. Forget about filing charges.
The kid did the only thing he could think to do in the heat of the moment. He is not going to make a habit of stabbing people, and is not a menace to society. I only fear what might have happened if the man had not been fatally wounded and turned on the kid. :scared:

6. Think this kid's suffered enough...
and don't think this is going to be forgotten easily.

Slam dunk to me. Let him go.

7. Why Isn't This Obvious To Officials?
Is there something else about this story that I'm missing? I think the "choking" part was sufficient to demonstrate the attacker's intent to kill the mother, and it doesn't lend time to call 911 for the cops.
