In God We Trust posters going up
In God We Trust posters going up
The Bakersfield Californian | Wednesday, Apr 2 2008 3:10 PM

Some 2,300 once-disputed In God We Trust classroom displays have arrived at the Kern High School District and are in various stages of being pinned up, district spokesman John Teves said Wednesday.

East Bakersfield High School, for example, has its posters up while other schools are preparing to do the same within the next week, he said.

The approximately 40 posters to be framed and permanently mounted at places like school libraries have not arrived yet.

After a spirited community debate, the Kern High School District voted late last year to place the posters in classrooms districtwide.

5. Talk about used car salesmen? Organized religion=money panderers.
How shameful of them. If there is a "God" won't he or she be so put off by the money sharks here on Earth? I truly believe that these con artists don't believe in "God", why else would they risk
"his" rath by scamming money in his name?

17. Yes we do.
I insist that all schools have FSM statues in front of them. Let it be written, let it be done.

3. Do "we"?
I certainly don't. If you ask me, God's a bit too mercurial and unpredictable to be trustworthy.

15. Odd that our money also violates the principle of separation
I've always thought that was odd...

But apparently these aren't the only posters going up in that district:

While the initial debate centered on displaying posters with the national motto — In God We Trust — the agreed-upon ones going up now also include parts of the U.S. Constitution, Bill of Rights and Declaration of Independence.

Count your blessings, I'd say... it might be the only education the kids get on those documents.

16. How do you trust...
... a bored, petulant albeit omnipotent two-year-old screw-up with a warped personality and an ego the size of the crab nebula who visits untold carnage and grief on the human race just for the pure malicious fun of it.

That's what Mark Twain (paraphrasing) figured gawd was all about, since no sentient and compassionate being would treat living creatures -- and not just humans -- they way they're treated on earth and then expect prayers and hosannas and subservience and always more money.
