Why McCain will defeat himself
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap_campaignplus/20080403/ap_ca/on_deadline_mccain_2

While John McCain works to avoid the campaign undertow of this President Bush, he's risking the political trap that snared the first one. When the economy is sliding toward recession, it is going to be the win-or-lose election issue, no matter how well versed a nominee is in matters of foreign policy and defense.

McCain is saddled with some early season confessions that he's no expert on the economy and, indeed, didn't understand it as well as he should have. He's since tried to disown those comments, unsuccessfully.

As the Republican presidential nominee, McCain promises a bold economic plan. So far, it is the orthodox conservative one — cut taxes, rein in spending and rely on the marketplace, with some kind of relief for blameless borrowers who face foreclosure in the current mortgage mess.

1. Economists for Obama
Edited on Thu Apr-03-08 07:18 PM by Juche
There needs to be a 527 called Economists for Obama to take advantage of this fact. Get some well known economists to do TV and radio ads touting Obamas programs (end the war & Bush's tax cuts, invest in energy & science, regulate the financial markets, etc). I haven't seen many economists talk about how damaging McCain's Bush strategy will be or how Obama's plans will help.

2. We need to make this campaign as long and as vigorous as possible to run McCain into the ground.
The more stressful the campaign, the more goofs and gaffs he will make. Compared to Obama he will look like a shrunken and withered, little old man. Let McCain hitch his wagon to the Iraq debacle and see how that plays out with the American people. The question the country needs to be asked is simple: are you better off and is this nation better off than it was 8 years ago? For all those years the Republicans have really controlled everything and set the agenda and direction for the U.S. Just say NO! to McBush.

4. McCain already has a strategy..
He's going to be a "uniter". He knows how to work "across the aisle". In order to show how different he is from George W Bush, he will pretend to be the person that will work with both sides to find the best solutions to our problems. In the meantime, the war will continue and he will continue to fight for more taxcuts for the wealthy.
