Mystery Creature In Utah Baffles Biologists

BRIGHAM CITY, Utah -- A fanged creature found in Utah after some ice melted on a pond has stumped biologists trying to determine what it is.

The strange creature was found after about 4,000 fish were discovered dead in a Brigham City pond, according to officials.

Officials said the pond may have been poisoned or the water may have run out of oxygen due to the thick ice.

While checking the pond, the creature was spotted.

"When we first saw that fish, we thought what in the ….. is that thing?" Utah Divison of Wildlife Resources Ben Boyce said.

"Hillary is unfit to be president because she once wore suede shoes and said 2 years later they were leather high heels!"

"Obama can't lead, a kid saw him with a cigarette once and nearly died just from the pic of the smoke wafting up!"

1. What a bizarre looking creature!
I've never seen a fish with such a menacing face. What a crazy weird, toothy half-grin.

8. Alligator gar has a longer, narrower head.
I'd suspect an released exotic, kinda like the snakeheads that were a problem a few years ago.

9. ONe of those asian snake head fish that are invading...
And eating all the native species...

Pretty easy to ID that. Asian immigrants plant them in local ponds to catch later.

10. View from other angles at (link to slideshow)

The head is much longer than this view makes it appear. Snakehead seems like a good guess.

13. By the looks of the teeth, it looks like a grinnel.
We used to catch them out of the Little Muddy River. My dad used to take his pistol with him when we went. When you hooked one, he would have to shoot at it to stun it, or you would not be able to get them out of the water. Plus, they try to bite you.
