McDonald's Responds to Prince Charles' Proposed Ban
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Memo from McDonald's Corp. to the Prince of Wales: We are not amused.

McDonald's said on Wednesday it was disappointed by Britain's Prince Charles' statement that the hamburger chain should be banned, adding that the heir to the British throne was unfamiliar with its recent efforts to introduce healthier fare.

Earlier this week, Britain's Prince Charles suggested during a visit to the Imperial College London Diabetes Center in Abu Dhabi that McDonald's, often criticized over its high-fat menu choices, should be banned.

"Have you got anywhere with McDonald's? Have you tried getting it banned? That's the key," the prince said to a nutritionist at the center.

Ah yes, let's go to Mickey D's and get some carrot sticks.

1. I haven't been to McDonald's in years
I haven't even had a hamburger in years.

Does McDonald's actually have anything approaching natural, unprocessed healthy food? Or is McDonald's just saying they've made "efforts", which might really mean nothing concrete?

3. In the UK, you can get gardenburgers and soy burgers at most fast food outlets
There's a huge non-beef eating Southwest Asian contingent in that country. You don't want to shun them or their money, so there's your motivation.

The Burger King soy whopper is delicious, FWIW. Tastes the same to me.

The Prince is an asshole and an idiot. Even his MOTHER likes fast food every once in a while.

It's not the food itself, it's the quantities. Everything in moderation, and you'll be fine.

8. Not the worst.
Well said. Moderation is indeed the key. Worse than McDonald's (where it's possible to eat a salad) are the "all you can eat" food bars.

6. I haven't been to a McD's since the mid-1970s...
I despised their extremely uncomfortable hard-plastic chairs at the time (attached to table and swung out--couldn't get in or out of them very well!). Also, I was turned off by its advertising--never sold a product as much as sold an experience! Ronald's friends would act out some skit that would always end up at a McD's. Very predatory to children.

Although I hadn't been to a McD's for some time, their campaign a while back about putting the hot stuff (patty) on one side of the styrofoam box while putting the cold stuff (tomato and lettuce) on the other side really did it for me--it embarrassed me to think that they thought I'd find this exciting (kinda like auto dealers who offer a 2-liter bottle of Coke if I come in for a test drive). It embarrasses me to think they think I'm really that stupid.

Their food, like their whole image, is crap!!!

4. Does he say anything about English fish & chip joints?
Watch out, you don't want the newspapers they wrap the grub in to get anywhere near an open flame.

5.  They should ban and remove ALL MC'D's
From the entire planet , they are nothing but an eye-sore and a pumping station of pure heart attack poison .

Last time I went was around 1966 before they peppered the landscape .

7. I was in Australia recently
and they were advertising some new pasta thing for kids' meals. Like raviolis that could be dipped into spaghetti sauce. That would be a big improvement for the kids' stuff.

10. I am generally pro-British, but there does seem to be something
about the British Monarchy and micromanagement of our nutrition. Taxing tea, banning McDonalds, what will be next?

13. His mother, his dead ex-wife, and his SONS have all enjoyed Mickey D's...
It's just CHARLES. See what a fucking idiot he is??

THIS is why his mother won't retire. She thinks he's an asswipe who opens mouth, inserts foot.

Camilla is likely the LEAST of her worries.
