Anybody else hit with this Comcast outage?
Comcast says it's affecting states in the east. I can get DU and a few other sites, but most sites don't respond. VOIP and e-mail also out. What's going on in your area? Is it just Comcast or the internet itself?

2. So far, I'm good.
I'm in Sarasota FL.

I despise Comcast, BTW. Their tv commercials are the worst on the planet.

4. Yes. Exactly the same symptoms, and my father is having it also. (Both in SE PA)

Called Comcast and got the same message. Strange that certain sites (eg.DU, dKos, Truthout and Alzheimers Caregiver Forum) are all working very well, but most other sites are down or too slow to use. What could cause this?

I SHOULD be pissed because I can't get to the web site to record the hours I work, but I WOULD be pissed if DU wasn't one of the sites I couldn't access!

9. I'm in Delaware and seem to be fine unless I'm
going to one of those states. I tried Accuweather first thing this morning, and it's out of State College, PA. I couldn't get it to come up. Couldn't get to a friend's site either.

16. I have comcast and I can say they truly suck... Never thought
I would see the day I wanted Warner Cable back... You are correct, we are experience short outages, I would say 30 or 40 a day and it is affecting the internet and our ip phone...

Another problem with Comcast is that they constantly harass us day and night about more services, like we would buy any more crap from them...

We have satellite and we are seriously thinking about changing our Internet service provider...

Edited on Sat Apr-05-08 11:28 AM by rocknation
I can't get my Comcast e-mail, but my personal server e-mail and web page still work. More important, my VOIP (Vonage) still works because I deliberately chose not to make it part of a Comcast "bundle."

DU's coming in fine, which I guess means we owe a thumbs-up to the Admin crew!

affecting more than one ISP. but you're right.... a dumb way to express it.

23. 7 states -- and a deafening silence. No press release notifying. .
. . .the public. Even comcast reps apparently kept in the dark (one poster to http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=389&topic_id=3111003&mesg_id=3111079">another thread was told the problem was on the customer's side -- that they needed to come get a new modem.)

But I saw some work in my area that tells me that they are working to upgrade the lines. The minute they do, bye bye, Comcast!
