7. Yeah, I remember

and I did some of my own "estimating" using overhead shots, google earth and a useful tool called google planimeter. I then outlined the area shown in the photo to get a square meter estimate (leaving out places where the crowds became sparse) and then used some close ups (photos from in the crowd) to figure out how much space each individual occupied. I was VERY generous in estimating how much space each person takes up.

Some quick math later I had a "crowd size" number.

Almost invariably it was 3 to 4 times larger than the media estimates.

And, conversely, it was always smaller than protest organizers estimated, but only about 25 percent (which, given my methods, could be within the margin of error).

It's infuriating. The media and the government teamed up to sell a fraud, and pushed forward with it even though most of us didn't buy it. When it turned into chaos, as so many of the pre-invasion critics said it would, they throw up their hands and say, "How could we ALL have been so wrong? Let's go to William Kristol for some answers".

10. 1.2 Million People on the Mall---- I was one of 'em.

And yes, it was appalling how the media ignored it. CNN spent the day covering Estee Lauder's death and chasing after elusively drunk "NASCAR voters".

11. I was there with my daughter, sister, and best friend. My daughter was pregnant.

We had to fly out from California, and truth to tell, she was the one that dragged my butt along with her. I'm so proud. :D

We met up with my friend who lived in the area and my sister bussed in from Boston with her church group. There were enormous numbers of church groups marching together, btw, all kinds of denominations.

It was an incredible couple of days. The California contingent met up at a hotel and we got to listen to our Senators and a good sampling of our Congresswomen speak to us before the festivities.

There were people as far as the eye could see. There were the usual helicopters keeping us company, and you KNOW that many in power know just how many citizens turned out on this and other occasions. It's just not that hard to lay a grid and do the math.

I marched in Washington DC a few more times, each time to immense turnout. I am proud of my fellow citizens. It's my government and their media enablers that make me weep.
