Jesse Ventura: "I can't hold my country on a pedestal anymore."
Edited on Sat Apr-05-08 08:56 PM by jhuth
"KING: ... with your record, a Navy SEAL, you must like John McCain.

VENTURA: No, I don't. No, I don't. I dis -- I like John McCain as a person. I respect him for his military service. But I don't like his positions at all, when he starts telling me that we could be in Iraq for 100 years. Larry, I can't hold my country on a pedestal anymore.

You know why? Because we lined our military up at another sovereign nation's border, we invaded that country and overthrew that government without being asked. That's what the Nazis did. That's what the communists did. And now we've done it.

And I say this personally because I'm Slovak descent. I'm a Slovak. And when I was growing up, I believed that I was Czechoslovakian because of what Russia did. They came in and took two separate countries -- Slovakia and the Czech Republic -- put them together as one. And I remember sitting one time at a party and someone asked me my nationality. I said, "Well, I'm Czech."

And my 85-year-old aunt spun around in the chair and her finger went up. She said, "You're not Czech, you're Slovak."

And now we've done what those countries have done. We've invaded a country that did not do one thing to us. There isn't one shred of evidence that Iraq had anything to do with 9/11. I mean, it's like if you go back to World War II and Pearl Harbor. The Japanese attacked us at Pearl Harbor, so maybe we should have attacked Thailand.

After all, they're Asian too, aren't they?"

Truth from a third party candidate.

Think Mr. O or Ms. C will ever say anything close?

(I know, I'm laughing at the thought as well)

Every time you write him off as batshit crazy, he up and whacks you on the side of the head with a cold mackerel stuffed with sanity.

8. Jessie Ventura has come out of closet as a 9/11 Truther.
He says ever since his son insisted that he watch the Loose Change video, he no longer believes the Official Conspiracy Theory. Can't link to any of the sites that discuss it as they are off limits on DU, but just google "Jessie Ventura 911 truth" and you'll see I ain't kidding.

12. Where was this Jesse after Wellstone's funeral?
My recollection is that he helped throw us under the bus. Maybe some Al Franken supporters out there can clear that one up for me.

13. Isn't he a Libertarian?
Most of them have that attitude about the war. He also believes that JFK was not done in by Oswald. He talked to Castro personally.

It should be noted, he doesn't have much love for Democrats either.

20. True. Libertarians are interesting.
They also tend to believe 911 conspiracy stuff, to be skeptical of the official theory.

15. You know
It's always a sign of how screwed up the world has become when I agree with Jesse Ventura and Pat Buchanan.

This is happening more often lately, and I always feel like I need to have my head examined afterward.

On the other hand, he's saying what I have been all along, so maybe it will be PC to say it now- We are the Nazis and the Stalinists now.

26. Ya, that's why I don't like it when he says things like this:
http://thinkprogress.org/2008/02/06/buchanan-gandhi-mccain/

I didn't watch it, but he's right in that McCain will simply continue the steamroller moving through the middle east. He's also made a few comments over the years regarding the war that are spot on...

I really hate it when loons like him make sense- as I said before, it's proof that the world has gone mad.

It should be used against him in the GE, yet there's no guarantee that will happen.

25. I find the way Larry King is asking the question very interesting
He implies that someone "must" prefer McCain because of having been a Navy Seal, or by extension, a military member.

Simply not the case.

But interesting that he pushed in that direction.

27. He also warned Barack Obama
... to watch his back.

"I believe very strongly that if an independent candidate like myself - a rogue - were to get into the President’s race legitimately, if the polls looked like he had a chance to win, I believe that candidate would either be physically assassinated or would be assassinated credibility-wise or in some manner by our government because I do not believe they would ever allow a true independent or a citizen to become President of the United States," Ventura told The A* J* Show.

"I say this in all seriousness - watch out Barack Obama," he added.
"

Not allowed to link to it here. So stupid because it is news from an interview. However, google has it.

31. major reason to figure that obama is a caballist
playing the role of a rogue. if he really was a rogue someone the cabal didn't own. he would have been assassinated soon as he won his first few states.

32. He doesn't know very much about Slovakian history
Czechoslovakia was part of the Habsburg Empire until the Austrians lost in WWI along with their German allies. Czehoslovakia was created by France, Britain, and the USA - the victorious allies while Russia was still being taken over by Lenin and Stalin.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slovakia#Twentieth_century

And Czechoslovakia was a beautiful thing, because it had the capital of Norway right in the middle. Now a perfectly good geographical joke has been ruined, just because a bunch of splinterists want to have their own tiny little country :argh: It's bullsh*t!!1! :argh:

36. I love Jesse for his religious views...
which are none at all. Didn't he once say that religion was a crutch for weak minds?

He's a breath of fresh air. Too bad he turned out to be a rather bad administrator.
