Why are so many banks being built?

It's become a joke around my area in OK - every time we see a new building going up, we say "Hey, I know - a new BANK!" - and damn near every time, it IS a bank.
I mean it's one on every corner now, almost.
Anybody else noticing this? It just smacks weird to me for some reason. :shrug:

1. Especially since so many bank services have been automated.

I rarely go in to the teller. I do everything at the ATM and online.

Because the suckers need places to go to waste their money on the fundie snake oil salesmen....so that the now destitute people will be saved.....

4. Who goes to banks anymore besides my parents??!!??

LOL - Too funny! We have the same problem here in IL and my husband and I laugh about it all the time! Why on earth would they be building banks when one next to never needs to visit one anymore??? It's crazy and they are constantly building new ones around here.

The only people we know who regularly go to the bank are my parents - even my in laws never go to the bank anymore and do everything online or via ATM.

6. I always go into the bank. I don't use the ATM.

And I'm only in my 30s.
It's a matter of preference.

I work in one of the burbs and there are a gazillion banks all over the place--all kinds except the one where I have my account.

You're the first one from elsewhere I've heard point it out.
My small town has another one opening this spring. I'd been wondering what they were digging, but suspected from previous construction that it was yet another bank branch. They finally outnumber pizza shops.

Odd because it's a branch who's main building is also in this small city of 6000.

will cost $25,000,000,000.00 they need new banks to hold all that Monopoly money. Get your U-Haul's ready to go to the grocery store, better hurry before the value goes down further.

They are building a new bank here too, across the street from me. Wondering where they get the money....well not really. You notice it took congress 12 yrs to raise the minimum wage, but took them over night, so fast we almost missed it, to help out failing banks and savings and loan companies.
