1. an unarmed populace is an easily controlled populace.
cant have the slaves be armed. they might decide they don't like being slaves and rebel.

It was the BUSH ADMINISTRATION (via Albert "No Habeus Corpus" Gonzales) that introduced the bill last session to automatically revoke gun ownership from anyone who gets put on the administration's secret blacklist, cheered on by the repubs at the Brady Campaign.

Bush is also on record as wanting to outlaw the most popular civilian rifles in America (aka "assault weapons"), just like Bush the Elder, but didn't try because to do so would be political suicide.
