So James Hartline just came to my front door....

For those who do not know, James Hartline is a psycho Christian anti-gay rightwing republican in southern california, who is now apparently running for city council trying to unseat Toni Atkins.

He's one of those self-hating closet cases, a la Larry Craig, who crusades against gays because he claims he used to be one and that experience is why he knows about all the secret gay conspiracies to do things like indoctrinate kids and intentionally spread the AIDS virus.

So this jackass comes to my front door about 20 minutes ago. He's canvasing my district. First off the guy is just creepy... he looks like the kid from deliverance, all grown up. He's an angry scowling little man... with a face like a wadded up paper bag.

He says, loudly, that he's running for city council and I open my security door and take one of his flyers... before I'm fully sure who he is. And as he is saying that if I'd like we can chat for a minute about his ideas and policies, etc. I look over the flyer immediately notice, there is no party affiliation stated anywhere on the flyer. I think I know who this guy is, but i don;t want to be a jerk.... at least until I'm sure he deserves it.

So I ask... what party are you?

He says, with some hesitancy, "I'm a registered republican."

I say, "OH, well then you can have this back." and I pushed his flyer back into his hand.

He whined, quite shocked, "Why... why would you do that?"

At which point I slammed the door in his face, and I do mean slammed. It is a metal security screen door, so it was nice and loud.

And he started to say, "But.." as I slammed the inner wooden door as well. So I didn't hear the rest of what he said.

I took a peek out my window to see him walking dumbfounded down the walkway back to the street and on to my next door neighbor's home. (Who will be none too receptive either, I'm sure.)

It was great... the look on his craggy face when the word "republican" got the door slammed in his face.

I really really hope I ruined his whole day.

3. The last time a republican came to my door was in 2000.

Greg Nominelli running as State Rep. My Yard was chock full of Democratic signs, and up waltzes this ditz. He and his crew start walking to wards my house, me lounging on my front porch starts laughing at them, the closer they get, the more I'm laughing. He climbs the steps with a grin, knows I'm onto him and his signs with NO mention Republican anywhere, and asks me, Are you a straight ticket Democrat? YES, I AM!
Long story short, He Refused to give me his yard sign to vandalize.
