14. It's very difficult

I've been on DU for nearly four years and have participated in many actions to get the truth out on any number of matters, and to bring these criminals to justice. It's difficult, if not impossible, when the corporate media refuses to report the facts, and the "opposition" party ISN'T, due to conflicts of interest within both entities.

The corporations control the message. And since the Repubs have worked very hard at one thing -- making themselves friends to big business with tax cuts and deregulation, etc -- more often than not it's THEIR message that gets through.

The Dems have decided to counter this effect by also cozying up to big business. Unfortunately it's still the corporate message we're hearing, and that will never be friendly to the people and our concerns except as a matter of convenience.

Bottom line: our government is owned and it isn't by the people, no matter what party one belongs to. Repubs on the ground haven't realized this because the majority of them are hearing what they believe to be true. But some of them are slowly awakening to the fact that the message doesn't match the deed, that they matter no more than the rest of us, and that they've simply been used.
