Two Dems are running for the privilege of unseating Patrick McHenry in NC's 10th District
Here are their web sites
Daniel Johnson http://www.danieljohnson08.org/
Steve Ivester http://steveivester.com/

If anyone has any more current information can you please post it?

Daniel Johnson was in the military and is already calling for Patrick McHenry to apologize for his "two bit security guard" statement.

Seven out of thirteen North Carolina districts are already represented by a Dem in Congress - so there's a chance to unseat the garbage. http://www.ncdp.org/2008+North+Carolina+Democratic+Candidates

2. It's what prompted me to go find the skinny on what's going on in NC
Figured it deserved its own thread to make people aware at a glance. And with 7 districts already Dem, what the heck. We do have a chance. I have to study the candidates before I contribute.

I'll send them the link. Thanks for the nudge!!!

4. I could see both NC and Virginia going our way this year.
Thanks for those links.

Both guys are veterans (unlike McHenry). The young guy seems to have more resume than chin whiskers, but I like his story. The older guy troubles me a bit with his overt references to prayer and admission to being a conservative.

That said, when we see states like North Carolina going Dem, we need to be happy just with that. Massachusetts it ain't.

5. Could you see Johnson's email addy at the bottom of the page?
Way at the bottom they provide the snail mail and I think I can see part of the word "Email". Perhaps it'll open completely in Internet Explorer. But I can't see it with Firefox. So I signed up for information. Hopefully I'll hear back soon.

Right now I think Johnson will get my donation. Ivester makes me squeamish. And beside, with so many Dem districts I don't think we need an avowed conservative. I'm sure Johnson has said his share of prayers, given what he's gone through. He's younger but his story speaks to a maturity I will never know.

16. Pretty sure NC was blue in 2004 - massive election fraud and 'voting machine glitches'
that never managed to be truly resolved.

8. It looks as if they both were in the service. Steve Ivester's profile says he's an
"Active Duty Military Veteran."

Thanks for putting up the names of the Democratic contenders. They both look like excellent people.

14. Thank you for the Rec, Dick! And to the other person who rec'd, too!
We aren't in North Carolina - but it would give me the warmest fuzzies to help unseat McHenry.

"Patrick McHenry", indeed!

17. Can you please tell me a little more about your link
Is it related to North Carolina or McHenry? I went to that web site but couldn't find what you might be referring to.

Thanks in advance!

18. Our only problem is...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_Carolina's_10th_congressional_district

which describes his district as "the most Republican district in North Carolina and one of the most Republican in the South."

Which means that, if we are to have any hope of getting rid of this bastard, someone has to find a Republican who isn't a total tool--yes, they exist--and run him against Patrick McHenry in the primary. A decent human being who plays McHenry's "two-bit security guard" comment over and over in the next month has a fighting chance.

19. This Scumbag Has Lots of Dirt In His Closet...Including Murder...
http://www.scrutinyhooligans.us/?p=3949\

Pat Go Bye Bye readers will recall that I wrote of the McHenry connection last Friday. I have two off-the-record sources tying Gonzales to McHenry (and one wacky dude.) At the time I didn’t have the information that Drake had worked in or had family ties to Rutherford County. (I’ve since read where he was coming there to be buried but can no longer find the link.)

For those of you who didn’t follow those links for the Florida Gonzalez/Abrami/Drake murder/suicide story’s details, I’ll just sum up the political part of the story for you:

Gonzales (as Georgia Republican Party Executive Director) has close ties to Ralph Reed and the dirty tricks that defeated Senator Max Cleland in Georgia. Never forget they employed the confederate flag wedge issue hysteria. Never forget that Ralph Reed took over the Georgian Republican Party using Abramoff-forced Choctaw “donations.”

<snip...a lot more at the link>

Methinks this twit has a lot to answer for and now's the time to start asking questions and keep asking...
