If someone made a baseless accusation against John McCain, what is the moral response?

There are many rumors out there about McCain and I suppose many have grains of truth running through them. Not sure how you can say you know beyond a shadow of a doubt what is the truth of the matter. I suggest doing as much research as possible and take nothing for granted or as gospel even if it comes from DU..
