Advice on an e-mail received in elementary school e-mail:
I'm getting fed up with school mass e-mails that presume that we are all of one mind and I have complained in the past to the superintendent about the overt religious presumptousness of our principal. Not that this latest e-mail is religious in tone, and it did not come from the principal, but it is offensive to several of the more progressive-leaning staff. How should I handle this? It really irks me. I never mass e-mail personal preferences to staff. I support planned parenthood. The superintendent stated at the beginning of the year that mass e-mails related to politics is not allowed. Here is the e-mail:

Good Morning Everyone
We had a great meeting yesterday for our Relay for life team. It was brought up that American Cancer Society might support (financially at least) pro-choice programs. This is NOT true. Our regional coordinator made a phone call after I called her and spoke with one of the major communicators for the American Cancer Society. This rumor started because in Ohio a grant was presented to ACS (I'm tired of writing American Cancer Society!) for a smoking cessation class. ACS provided the funds for the class. The class met where a Planned Parenthood organization meets as well. The two programs have nothing to do with each other. By the way ACS has not been approached to give the grant again, and because of the controversy, they probably will not as long as people are connecting the Planned Parenthood with the ACS. Just thought you might like to know.

1. Call your local paper. Forward it to every email address you can find in local government.
They hate when the lights shine brightly.

Thanks everyone for the great turnout at the last bake sale!
It was a huge success despite some of the ugly political arguments that arose.
This has caused some concern so I thought some things should be clarified.
To my knowledge, there is no solid proof that Senator McCain is a pedophile.
There are rumors surfacing that he was arrested once in the mid 80's and again in the early 90's for inappropriate conduct with young boys, but to the best of my knowledge there is no definitive proof that the boys were sodomized by Senator McCain.
Arguing that Senator McCain has or hasn't broken the law, or how we as a society should deal with pedophiles, is NOT appropriate behavior for a school bake sale.
In this great country we should allow the courts to decide if Senator McCain is guilty and what his punishment should be.

On that note, we'd like to remind all of our parents to be vigilant of any adults who interact with their children.
Children need to be taught to NEVER accept a ride from any adult other than ones their parents have told them to accept a ride from.

Hope to see you all at the next bake sale!
Thanks!

2. The internal logic of the email is asinine, for one....
This bozo won't ask for a grant from ACS because some other moron was upset because the smoking cessation class was held in the same room as the PP meeting. Does this mean they're afraid the smokers will get cooties from people who are trying to prevent unplanned pregnancies? Does this mean they'd rather let someone die of nicotine addiction than..... Oh, ow. My head hurts.

Argh.

3. I don't know what to tell you, but that is why group email lists suck
I always try to email stuff to myself, with my group of choice Blind CC'd. That way if someone hits "reply all" they only send it to me.
