I don't know how he has the patience to deal with the idiots myself. I'd be more like Malloy, telling them to get the Hell out and don't call back.

I don't think Hartmann does a very good job of refuting the claims of these people he has on. I wouldn't object to them coming on if he did a better job with them, but he doesn't and they get the opportunity to get heard. There is so little liberal talk radio, that it seems Hartman is overzealous in having on these guys. His interview with Jesse Ventura was alot shorter than I think it should have been. I was really emjoying it when he stopped the interview.

5. I think Hartmann does a fine job.

Not only does Hartmann engage the WR nuts during the segments, he continues the discussion with his callers, picking apart the WR spin over the course of his three hour show. He brings these jerks on to bring out their arguments and tactics in order to demonstrate what their BS is and how to refute it. He is not able to shut down every single WR lie and yet carry on a conversation. The refutations continue after the segments, sometimes for days. Hartmann's show is about providing ammunition for activists. Everyday there is something for people to take away to use in the streets, neighborhoods and workplaces of America. That is why he calls it ammunition for the water-cooler wars.

As for Ventura, hard commercial breaks are hard commercial breaks. Thom is not always able to control when a segment ends, or how much time a guest is willing to share with the show.
