Everyone's doing well, thanks. Kristy and I went to the hospital today, it's the first time she's been there since the baby was born. My sister was thrilled to see her. They may move her to a rehab facility on Friday, we're concerned that it won't be a place that can give her what she needs. Kristy needs to talk to her insurance company to see what her policy covers. I think they're also going to discuss the hospital's neglect with an attorney. She had physical therapy on Friday and on Monday, but none yesterday or today - she's supposed to have it every day.

I'm glad that your niece was well enough to go to the hospital and that your sister seems to be improving. :hug: I despise insurance companies - we need single payer or regulations so that insurance companies can't decide what they will or will not cover. Fuckers almost caused us to declare bankruptcy years ago because I got sick and the treatment was over 2 years and what the insurance company didn't want to pay for was ridiculous yet expensive.

My MIL was a nurse in pediatric oncology at a hospital world-renowned for cancer treatment. She'd tell me how angry they got being challenged by an insurance company when the protocol was prescribed by some of the leading experts in the country.:grr:

I guess this is why I have a St. Jude's tag on one of my vehicles as the amount that I pay above the registration fee goes to St. Jude, and I make donations to them throughout the year. Children shouldn't have to pay the price with their health and well being for what adults refuse to consider important enough for them to pay for.

can you talk to them about giving her more time in the hospital?

47. The hospital seems to be pushing her out and they're not doing what they

need to be doing for her. She hasn't had any consistent physical therapy since she's been in there. She neads long-term acute rehab; she was evaluated by an regular acute rehab place last week and they won't take her because she can't tolerate 3 hrs. of physical therapy a day. She can't tolerate it because they haven't been giving her any at the hospital. The case worker at the hospital told Kristy that her insurance doesn't cover long-term acute rehab (we're skeptical of this, but the insurance co. won't discuss anything with Kristy - my sister had to sign a form authorizing them to talk to her). They want to send her to a sub-acute rehab place, where she won't get what she needs. Kristy's filed an appeal with the insurance company and hopefully she will get somewhere with them.

I was pushing to leave the hospital (9 days) and my youngest was 13 months old. Because of what the insurance company didn't want to cover Mr. lefty had to come home an hour early to start the saline solution before the home health nurse arrived to give me the nasty drug that was also an IV drug (amphotericin B). I had such severe reactions to the drug (even when I was in the hospital) and at home (Tylenol and demerol required and the joke about amphotericin with the nurses was "shake and bake" as it makes one run a fever - first time that I've ever been packed in ice - and shake to the point of seizures). It was when the reactions were so severe that I couldn't do the IV drug anymore that the insurance company didn't want to pay for the oral med. which had some nasty side effects, but my infectious disease Doc. went to bat for me because he was furious, and told Blue Cross that his only alternative would be to put me back in the hospital for the 2 yr. duration of treatment. He told me when he returned a phone call that he'd never sworn at an upper level insurance company person before. :thumbsup: for him, but we all know that this shit goes on all of the time. :mad:

mentioned the cost of someone taking care of my children (regardless of the other stuff that I do to keep the place running around here). Insurance companies have no business being in control of health at all, especially when the health of the "growed up" as my boys used to refer to us, means whether Mom will be dead or whether their lives will be shattered in one way or another by the decisions that BCBS makes about the care and treatment of MOM.

Enough should be e'f'in' nuff, but I have family members and neighbors who have forgotten the lesson that they should've learned from me.:shrug:

"We have been very frustrated the past few days in our efforts to rectify the Randi Rhodes Situation (her suspension by her network, Air America Radio). It is our understanding that today (April 9th) she is no longer an employee of Air America. So we are bringing her back."

Monday, April 14th at 4pm... it will be our pleasure to announce the return of Randi Rhodes to the Green 960 family.

I'm guessing she's going to be independently syndicated (or perhaps with Nova M) starting next week, or perhaps she's doing a SF-only show.

she was nasty to people who agreed with her, for Pete's sake - but firing her for using terminology that presidential candidates (and usurpers) use freely just stinks.

Green960's been pretty vocal in their support, and they seem to be a responsive, stand-up station. So I hope they show some backbone and step up to the plate.
