On a personal note, Randi inspired me to volunteer in 2006 on the Duckworth campaign. She said something to the affect that the 2006 election was one of the biggest in our lifetime and you should ask yourself if you are doing enough. A few days later I just showed up at the Duckworth campaign headquarters and was working every day after work for a few weeks on a campaign for Congress.

nice to me. She has an instinct to sort out dicks and although it may seem that she's being awfully rude, she is actually weaning out the possible trolls before they can take over. I used to be a bartender and the same instinct is needed to put possible trouble makers in their place before you have to call the police.

Tonight I was driving home, listening to my local progressive radio station, and I heard your voice, saying you would be back on the air, fresh and ready to go, on 4/14, and I shouted "YAY!" because I was so happy to hear it.

Randi's was the first Liberal voice in radio I ever heard, back when she was on WIOD in Miami. She was instrumental in making me the political animal I am today, and I was heartbroken to hear of the recent events. When I heard Sam say on the air yesterday that Randi decided to leave Air America I was in shock, but it made sense. You can't muzzle the Goddess.

Once I got home, before I learned of the great Nova M news, I caught myself muttering the lyrics to an old Kinks song. It took a second for me to even realize why it was bubbling up from my subconscious:

43. I have sat back and abstained from the Randi threads.

Until now.

I've been waiting to hear her side of the story, rather than jump to conclusions like other DUers.

I'd say I'm horrified by the things that other DUers have been saying about her, but I've got too many other, more important things going on in my life to muster any level of outrage that other community members have the ability to conjure up at the drop of a hat. I will admit, though, that the amount of restraint I had toward posting since Randi's suspension could fill Shea Stadium, especially when reading posts by people making assumptions in order to support a conclusion.

I believe Randi's side of the story because she has never lied to me. That's it. Period.

We now learn that this had nothing to do with what she said in San Francisco. Not one thing.

It was all about AAR being bought by new owners that wanted to change the "we can't fire you, but you can quit" clause in her contract.

It was all about AAR's new owners trying to assess Randi's worth to the company by doing some market research.

And it was all about AAR's new owners not giving her microphone back because she'd tell her listeners all of this and the truth would be out of the bag.

To every one of the naysayers that have logged numerous posts on this subject: you owe Randi and all of her listeners and fans a very big apology. But like has happened around here in the past, I'm not holding my breath waiting for one. Some long time DUers on this board have a problem admitting when they have been wrong. They'd rather move on to the next outrage du jour.

I can't wait to tune into Nova M on Monday to hear Randi again. I already tune in to hear Mike every now and again, but now Nova M will have another daily listener and possibly a new contributor. I'm so relieved I never sent AAR money. But after listening to Mike rant about Randi's suspension, and how he was practically begging to join his family over at Nova M radio, I feel compelled to throw a few duckets their way.
