4. We need to (sigh, again)
contact our reps AND Obama and Clinton and dangle the words "support, vote" in front of them.

I always threaten them with my vote. I'm sure Libby Dole is going -- "let me guess, I've lost gateley's vote AGAIN".

I honestly don't know of any other power we wield -- open to suggestions, though!

19. Hard to know.........today is the first day that this is getting full national coverage. It ..
took at least 2 days to get this out. It is everywhere now. Torture is the issue. Hard to know what the entire nation will think. I am not sure that many people care much. We do, but many care about 4 dollar gas more.

22. We have four dollar (nearly five here) because the torture president
was more interested in bombing a country that had never hurt us and in torturing goat herders and journalists than in our economy.

6. Bury it and pretend it never happened
Don't believe it? Just watch.

Unfortunately, much of the damage has been done. Throwing these bastards into prison over it would help to start getting our reputation back, but that reputation was built over a century. It's always easier and quicker to destroy a reputation than it is to build one, or build it back.

We can cry out for justice but we are not likely to see it.

9. Law? LAW? We no longer have laws.
We have signing statements informing us which "laws" or parts of laws these thugs will deign to adhere to (or not). And don't look to Congress to do anything. Oh, they might hold a few more toothless hearings which accomplish exactly nothing.

17. I plead to not give up
My spending 15 months in a hell hole is where I get my strength to hang in there, so to say. I don't get out much but when I do I am hearing a lot of talk about how illegal all this is, about impeachment and the likes. By giving up we give in, something I won't be doing.

At heart I agree with you 110% ... however, pessimism of the intellect, and optimism of the will.

25. me either, I will not give up either.
I find these thugs so insulting to the American people not all of us are ignorant to the true facts of what's been happening. This situation we find ourselves in can be controlled if we as a people come to terms with the idea of them against us, this is a class/ideological war, I really believe that. They will not get away with it, even those nazis who committed war crimes got theirs in the end, I can see that happening with these thugs.

26. I think so
I more or less cut my political teeth during the late 60s early 70s, protesting our illegal war and nuclear energy and watching watergate hearings on tv so I know, because I have seen it happen, as to what can be. I'm in a lot of ways like Charlton Heston in that they'll have to pry this constitution from my cold dead hands if they want mine. It frustrates me that so many are ready to throw their hands in the air and run screaming. I just wasn't wired that way. America is beautiful and will one day soon be rightous again, metaphorically speaking that is. And when she is I will be smiling that big assed okie smile I have been known to do because I'll feel good about not doubting her to start with, yes, when she was down and needed all the help she could get we were there and always will be. :-)
After all America is my true love, not my one and only mind you but true love nevertheless
Yes we will be walking together to a better tomorrow for our children, maybe not hand in hand but where it counts most, in spirit.
America will be Great once again and I promise that.

Heads will roll when the American people at long last wake up to the truth of what this present gov has been up to.

Teason is no longer punishable by death in America, is it?

George Bush says he believes in the God of the Bible. If that's true, he must be feeling really scared right now.
