You know, all you people out there that have talked about:

1. A recession coming (it's all ok, the stock market has ups and downs and this is all normal).

2. oil prices going to insane levels and hurting the avg person.

3. The attacks on America being just a tad suspicious.

4. Rigged voting. Been discussed here years. And some people thought you were a little 'off'.

5. Those Christian wackos from the 70's-90's - you know, the ones who didn't like the free trade, erosion of rights over waco/okie city, etc, the ones who warned us about a one world government and the erosion of rights. The ones who fought Outcome Based Education (for example) and then embraced NCLB. Maybe they were right all these years about a great many things - so why have they decided to choose sides with people who are implementing the things they feared? The very people who warned about our government having too much power and then you gave it to them...

6. Iraq. Do I need to go in to that in detail?

7. The patriot act - you know, all you folks who said it was bad. It was and is....

8. Conspiracies in general - the govt is not out to get you, just own and control you...

I could go on and on. There are a great many issues where we have (myself included) just brushed aside things only to find out later that maybe we were a little wrong.

Given 8 years of bush, and 8 years of clinton before that (where he was not always on our side), tossed in with 4 years of bush and 8 years of Reagan prior - well, you kind of start to think that maybe things are not always as they seem.

So maybe ya all need to shut the heck up now and listen to the 'fringe' - even if not in toto maybe you can just a little bit.

Because maybe, just maybe, those people with the signs saying 'the end is near' aren't as crazy as we think.

Maybe they are the ones paying attention.

...well I am a dirty hippie...and I've known forever that reagan was going to be VERY BAD for our planet! The tiny technicality of me not being a Dirty "Fucking" Hippie lately should have little bearing on my perception. I can shower and STILL BE RIGHT damnit!

10. Hell Yeah!
I have been the hippie voice of reason in my family all along! (Guess it came from spending all those weekends wandering up & down Telegraph Ave in Berkeley...)

Even as a early teen as Reagan was transferring power to bush, I was questioning the status quo, and where we could be heading.

Things may have gotten "better" under Clinton, but I was in college and not paying much attention.

I have had my head in the sand, admittedly, the past 7 years...because the handbasket to hell was looming So big.
And I sometimes felt like I was awake amidst a sleeping herd...

9/11 only made me think that it was a matter of time before the other shoe dropped.
who knew that it would be this terible and awesome of a master scary fascist fucking endgame?
Iraq, well, we can't even go there because I'll start to cry...
Even as a journalist, I have had to take breaks from the influx of awfulness - both hither & yon

And then I found you guys and DU! :grouphug:

Funny, now that the cards are really being shown, my own mom is talking like a revolutionary...at 72! go mamma!

the worst part is, as I read the threads here and just scroll through the titles...and I fear we may be REALLY beyond the point of no return...
