Please help me understand this!
Why are these GE numbers so close? http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2008/president/national.html

Why aren't the Dems blowing McCain out of the water?

Bush's approval ratings are hitting news lows everyday and McCain promises to follow in Bush's footsteps.

Why don't the voters see this?

Why don't the voters see that McCain doesn't know anything about Iraq?

Why don't the voters realize that McCain doesn't know anything about the economy? He even said so himself!

Why do people just let his temper slide?

Why is this happening?!?!?!

And, better yet, what can we do about it?!

America is faltering because of the ineptitude of the past eight years, why would people want that to continue??

:banghead: :grr: :banghead: :grr: :banghead: :grr: :banghead: :grr: :banghead: :grr: :banghead: :grr: :banghead: :grr: :banghead:

2. Don't sweat it, Margot...
Once we have a candidate, all "apparent" McCain leads will dissipate.

4. I have definitely thought that
and I hope that's true. I do think we will see a spike.

But, we need to be using this time to define McCain. We need to counter him at every stop. We can't just let him keep campaigning unopposed.

3. heh, give it time.
not to worry.
McLame as about as much chance of getting elected as my 99 yr old grandma. Except she is an immigrant, so his chances are only slightly higher.

5. It is because McCain is distancing himslef from the GOP
people think he is a moderate and he claims to be the best person to protect the USA from evil arabs. People are too gullible.

7. Should it be as easy as claiming
I can claim a lot of things, but that won't make any of them true. People are too gullible if they can watch him falter and still think he has any clue of how to run the country, just because he claims to be able to do so. It makes me sad...

6. I think that a major reason that Obama isn't doing better than he is against McCain
is all the bashing he's received from Clinton, some of it using GOP talking points.

Fighting amongst Democratic candidates never helps them for the GE. That's one reason that I hope this fight gets wrapped up as soon as possible.

8. The things that Clinton has said
can't be taken back, and the GOP will definitely use them in the GE. Clinton was unbelievably foolish and/or selfish to do that.

9. So, you are telling me that if Obama doesn't win the GE
it's Clinton's fault? Damn doesn't he take responsibility for anything?

10. Even my brother,
who is a relatively smart guy, says things like: "McCain is OK. I could live with him as President." People just don't know all the stuff that we know about him yet. But they will.

11. This is where my hope lies
McCain will be exposed and beaten back. People will not accept more failure.

PS I hope you set your brother straight. Seems like he needed some info.

12. Because the Dems fighting each other is sucking up all the media's attention
so the media is giving McCain a pass on everything... All the time & energy right now is going into "Obama said/Clinton said"

That will change as soon as we have a nominee.

13. Wait until the first McCain/Obama debate.
Obama will mop up the floop with him, and that will take care of that -- I hope.

15. Manufactured Consent
The media is making shit up. Bush/McCain are done, America is moving on but it looks to me like they are going to steal it again so the first thing they do is create the idea in the media that someone actually likes that idiot.

They lie in the polls, who believes that the corporate media tells us the truth about anything? They will lie and then they will steal it and tell us we like it.

17. This is what I'm afraid of
We all know they are capable of stealing elections, so it would be logical that they make us think it's close from the beginning.

19. McCain gets pretty sympathetic coverage.
The media has played along with his narrative so far.

They have an incentive for the race to be close. Remember how they legitimized Bush in 2000, while tearing down Gore.

Gore's superiority was abundantly clear, but somehow he was seen as suspect in comparison to Bush.

20. It is always this way...
Until the nominee is chosen it will remain this way. That coupled with the fact that our nominee (whichever it will be) has not been able to fully attack McCain because they're fighting with each other right now. He hasn't been painted as the "double-talk express" that he really is just yet. It will change. In fact, once the stark contrast is drawn in the first debates, there will be no stopping the Dems. This is why the Republicans are pissing their collective pants, and keep trying to tell everyone the dems are tearing their party apart. When the truth is, they are not happy about McCain and they have considerable infighting going on themselves. I hope they do get comfy with those polls, and the false impression they are making. This is going to be one fun election cycle! :D
