Just a simple question, How long did it take for you to get a 1000 post?

In the past three months I've just started posting regularly, I'm about half way there

and have 13,000 posts. I'm not a prolific poster so it did take a while to make it to 1000. Maybe a year.

12. I think some ambitious Duers spend a few weeks /days(?) in the lounge

playing "respond to every post" games and get to 1000 way fast, gabeana. It's the only explanation for Some People. Check it out sometime, if you have some extra time. i never seem to.

BTW, it took me several months at least, back in 2001, and I was obsessed with posting BushCo overlooked news and hardly went to the lounge at all.

Just hang in there and be sincere and sparing in your posts, if that is your way. Just ignore the stupid newbie taunts--and BTW, it is not unknown for truly cunning Royal Trolls to use the newbie taunt to disguise their own disrupting! Some people are viciously snarky on the forums just cuz they can. You have to be tough to survive any forum, they are like 7th grade playgrounds. Fortunately, on any forum,I am a visiting high school Senior!

Afraid to post for awhile.
DU was different back then and the most vociferous definitely were not the new posters. But then along came Terri Schiavo and my post count jumped up considerably--and very fast too.:)

Then I hit the stigma of the 700 Club, and started posting a bit more just to escape. Then I decided to keep it up until I reached my mille. Now that I no longer see my tally regularily, I don't care.

People were busy calling each other freeper and trying to get them banned, lest something suspected of being politically impure contaminate their retinas. Diversity is uniformity, dialog is chanting in unison, tolerance is elimination.

There's still a strain of that lurking in DU, as in all political groups (except maybe a libertarian group, although even that strikes me as unlikely), but the mods and Provider of the Playing Field ensure that they don't get very far or carried away. Come to think of it, that was around election time in '04. We're about there again, I guess.
