Question re: the canned US Prosecutors
are their firings illegal or are they just unfair?

Firing anyone who is competent and successful for your organization is unpopular and pretty dumb in my opinion, but I'm not sure it's necessarily illegal. Does anyone know the legal ins and outs of this?

1. How about defamation of character? All those prosecuters didn't
deserve to have their reputations questioned because the admin wanted new blood that would bow to their wishes.
But I'm no lawyer.

3. it's about placing political appointees in their place
I already knew that, unless you are referring to something else. I was just asking a specific question about one aspect of this issue.

4. It appears to be about political payback
Lam prosecuted Cunningham and Ingesias has said that he was pressured by two repub reps to issue indictments that might have benefitted the GOP in NM in 2006.

5. not so simple. They only could do it because they CHANGED THE LAW.
For over a hundred years, these appointments have been sent to the senate for approval. they slipped a clause into the patriot act 2 to go around the senate. no-one even knew the clause was there. And obviously it is not for "our protection' but for political power grabbing. in other words, abuse of power: changing the law to take power away from the senate, then abusing power again removing people who were doing important investigations. (You never take out a prosecutor in the middle of an investigation.) then abusing power again placing rove buddies in their place.
I don't know if you really are honestly unaware, or a right winger playing on Du, but I will assume it was an honest question and give you the benefit of the doubt by answering it.
