Prayer for the day....
What with all the discussion about religion on GD lately, I thought I'd share the latest from the PrayForPresidentGeorgeWBush site.....

From today's Presidential Prayer Team effort.... (Dude has a problem with capitalization and doesn't mention the concept of Sacred Torture)

Our Merciful Savior,
'Come, Let us Rejoice Unto the Lord: Let us Sing Aloud Unto the Rock of our Salvation.' (Ps.95:1) We Love You, our Father, and Delight to Gather in Your Name. How Grateful we are for Your Saving Grace! From the Depths of Hell You have Raised us, Seating us in the Heavenlies with Christ. You Died our Death, and Now we Walk in Your Life. Your Righteousness Clothes us; our Sins You have Cast to the Sea. We Worship You, our Sovereign, Mighty Lord! Your Eternal Decrees Bring us Peace.

Our Brother-President is in our Hearts, as we Behold the Attacks Upon Your Child. We Pray for His Protection, our Kind and Loving Lord. Thank You that Your Servant Stands Upon the Rock. He will not be Destroyed or Shaken, because of Your Omnipotent Grace. Many are Now Saying, "Where is his God?" Please Lift our Brother Above the Hatred of his Foes. May his Ministry of Prayer Prosper, through Thy Grace. Please Help him to Share Thy Gospel with the Lost. Thank You that he Cares for those in Pain. May the Tears he Sows Now, Result in Eternal Joy.

Thank you for our Defenders of Freedom, Gracious Lord. We Pray All the Blessings of Heaven will be theirs. Guard them Continuously in Thy Love, Majestic Lord. Thank You that You are their Habitation, Sweet King. (Ps.90:1) Please Fill them with Your Strength and Glorious Might. Grant them Victories as they Safeguard our Beloved Land.

Our Hearts Plead for our Nation's Repentance, God of Grace! Turn us to You, that we may Honor and Glorify Your Name. Save us, my Lord, and Bring us to Jesus Christ.

We Plead for the Election of a Multitude of Godly Men. My Master, we Long that the Scourge of Abortion will End. Have Mercy Upon us, our Faithful, Caring God. Please Keep Thy Unmerited Favor Over our Land.

2. Hey, man....
I just report it.... I don't make it up. :)

If you are a Buddhist Dem.... how would you pray for Dumbya? .... or could you?

Bush and Compassion are two words that just don't fit together.

The pope admires in American society the tendency to incorporate religion in public life.
To what extent the 11 speeches he makes during his six-day U.S. stay will have political content,
or content that can be interpreted as political, remains to be seen.

4. Yeah... but the Dalai Lama
is in Seattle. He's just talking compassion. That's pretty radical shit!

It's religion, but at least he's not telling me I'm gonna burn forever for even thinking about sex with Susan Sarandon. (I know.. she's an old lady. But I'm a really old guy.)

5. Wow. That's really badly written.
It's not just that they're actually praying for Bush to be blessed (which is bad enough). It's that they're Talking in All Caps and throwing everything in there they can think up. Ugh.

I like how, in our liturgy every Sunday, Father Deacon Sam pauses a bit after asking God to bless our president and all government officials. It gives me time to pray for impeachment, and from the look on Father Deacon Sam's face, I think he does too. :)
