Lemme get this straight ..... a former US president and Nobel Laureate is being denied security ....
..... in Israel because he will be speaking with the DULY FUCKING ELECTED LEADERSHIP of a large part of the citizenry of Israel? A man who embodies Shalom in all he has done with his life is treated this way because eh dares to work still again for peace? The man who brokered what has turned out to be an unprecedentedly long and successful peace with Israel's former sworn enemy and neighbor, Egypt. That guy?

Is that about it?

If it is, may I be among the latest to send Israel a great big, honking

FUCK YOU.

This administration has been absolutely insulting to Jimmy Carter. Remember when he wasn't "allowed" to go to the Pope's funeral? I think they had a certain number of slots so Stephen Hadley was included and they told Jimmy not to go. I wonder if the next administration will tell * not to go and represent the US?

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/742430.stm

"The study, published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, found that Jewish men shared a common set of genetic signatures with non-Jews from the Middle East, including Palestinians, Syrians, and Lebanese.

These signatures were significantly different from non-Jewish men outside of the Middle East. This means Jews and Arabs have more in common with each other, genetically speaking, than they do with any of the wider communities in which they might live. "

Most Israeli citizens want peace, and if that means talks with Hamas, and the establishment of a Palestinian state, then so be it.

It's the neo-con rightists here in America and in the Israeli govt. that perpetuate this idiotic policy of non-negotiation.

Just so you know!

have a criticism for the way Israel conducts its war with neighbors? then you're an anti-semite. thus, all criticism is illegitimate...evil, even.

people peddling this "new antisemitism" do their cause no favors. they're alienating people who might otherwise advocate their positions. it's impossible to partner ideologically with people who scream "antisemite" at you any time you enter a dialog on middle eastern policy.

The statement that Israel has no interest in peace is just an inaccurate and inflammatory statement.

And are you saying that American political leaders embrace Israel because they believe Israel engages in oppression and apartheid? That makes no sense.
