Iraq bombings, clashes kill 62
15/04/2008 11h28

<snip>Shiite militiamen have been engaged in sustained clashes with US and Iraqi forces for more than a week in Sadr City in which around 95 people have been killed.

The firefights began when US and Iraqi forces started operations in the sprawling slum to stop lethal rocket and mortar attacks from the district towards the Green Zone, the seat of the Iraqi government and site of the US embassy.

The US military claims that between March 23 and April 12 at least 596 rockets and mortars rounds were fired towards the Green Zone, many of them missing the target and killing Iraqi civilians.

Four Americans, including two soldiers, were killed in the attacks.

1. It will continue
Lets see; if the Iraqi's set up a "green zone" on any part of American soil, how many rockets would our citizens lob at them??? Ocupying a country has its drawbacks. Soviets learned that the hard way. Our kids did their job over there. The so called Iraqi government hasn't taken the opportunity to move their political process any further. Time to order our kids back and let the Middle East powers that be watch out for their own interests.

I find it amazing that our government actually helped the Iranian's complete the Shia Crescent.

2. Shia Crescent?
Last time I checked the USA had a military presence in every single county surrounding Iran.

Can you think of one that doesn't?

Not much of a Shia Crescent?

Do you understand what the Shia Crescent is? Google it. American Military wont stop the Shia from dominating and causing havoc in the Sunni held regions... Too late now.

edit: if 596 rockets is "green" I don't think I would enjoy "yellow" too much.

8. What was it Pratraeus called it?
something about a fragile and reversible progress?

Remember all the westerns we watched at the movies?
Soldiers in the fort.
Indians all around fort.

Leave fort- die.
Stay in fort- get attacked.

Not much has changed.
