Did you know rates for Priority Mail & express mail go up May 12???
I didn't know that! I sell things on Ebay, and I'm still bitching about the LAST INCREASE! First Class is staying the same, but PriorityMail & Exoress Mail are going up. It's supposed to be only the inflation rate, but it's very hard to tell because it's regional pricing. Here's a link to the PO new rates page.

2. I didn't know that until I went to the Post Office yesterday...
...I was mailing in the tax returns and heard the person next to me buying stamps discussing how many to get before the rate went up.

When was this decided?

4. If you check the link I posted, you'll see there's NO CHANGE
to First Class...at least that's what the USPS home rate page said.

9. You apparently overlooked the following sentence
under Mail Services:

"A First-Class Mail stamp will be 42¢. Customers can continue to use the Forever Stamps that they purchased prior to May 12 at 41¢, even after the price change."

unfortunately i have such a huge roll of the 41 cent stamps that i decided not to bother w. forever stamps and just to buy 1 cent stamps to put on my envelope when the day arrives, which it won't be long now

6. As a seller on eBay and with my forever trips to the post office, yes, I knew
and I'm not a happy puppy about it. Luckily, most of what I send out are First Class.

8. Postage is paid by the buyers on Ebay....
I know, I've been selling on Ebay for several years. The buyers are the ones who should bitch, but most of us sellers are buyers, too.

Why go to the post office? You can have them pick up your items at your home. Just schedule the pick-up the day before and do your postage on line. I used to go to the PO every day until I found out about their pick-up service. It has saved me a ton on gas and vehicle usage, not to mention the time. I live about 12 miiles from the closest post office. Food for thought.

10. I have a lot of International packages and though they are sent First Class International,
Edited on Tue Apr-15-08 12:48 PM by OmmmSweetOmmm
I have to do it at the post office.

I try to keep my postal fees low for my customers and the post office is making it more and more difficult.

12. I know the postage is paid by the buyers, but many things people
would buy on Ebay because they are cheaper than they can be purchased locally won't sell becasue the total cost is too high.

11. "Forever" stamps cost 41 cents, same as regular ones
I bought 500 of them last week. They will (supposedly) always be good for the first ounce on a first-class letter.

14. I think this is reasonable
There seemed to be a MAJOR price mis-match before. I mean in some cases it was actually almost cheaper to send something priority mail than parcel post.

It was like walking in to FedEx and being told ground shipping was $20 and overnight was $18.
