New Progressive Israel Lobby to counter far right AIPAC

For too long, the far right Israel lobby has shouted anti-Semitism to scare American politicians away from questioning Israel's dealing with their Arab neighbors. By contrast, J Street represents Americans, primarily but not exclusively Jewish, who support Israel and its desire for security as the Jewish homeland, but ALSO the right of the Palestinians to a sovereign state of their own and peaceful resolution of Arab-Israeli conflicts.

Between 1985 and 1999, people in at least eighteen various politial groups of moderates were decimated - sometimes by the kooks who were Palestinian fanatics, and sometimes by the kooks who were neo con Israelis. (Usually you can't even tell. There are agents and double agents and double double agents kinda things going on.)

Being moderate and for peace and justice is not a safe thing to be or do.

For far too long, AIPAC has conflated their position as being synonymous to the position of all American Jews, a proposition that though ridiculous, has gained far too much traction because there was never an effective organized Jewish voice to counter theirs.

Looks like that's about to change.
