Are Catholics who respect their Pope
Unwelcome in the Democratic Party? From some of the comments directed at him here I would have to guess not. I guess we don't need them anyway.

We're very biased against Nazis.

We're practically nazi nazis.

17. There are some Nazi Nazi Nazis lurking too.
But remember, all the jokes are done with lots of LOVE under the big tent.

That said, I thought I wore strange dresses

10. That would be a rare bird
It would be entertaining to talk to one and hear their rationale.

7. I hope Catholics who respect the Pope are welcome here.
Edited on Tue Apr-15-08 04:25 PM by Brigid
He and I don't see eye to eye on some things, but I still respect him. Let the naysayers yammer away all they want; they're not going to change my mind.

13. I suppose he deserves respect.. preferably while in Italy...
and preferably not as a world leader. I don't see any other top religious leader given the same level of honor and respect.

9. I hope so.
Respect doesn't mean agreement. As a Catholic, I don't happen to respect him but that is me and my standards don't have to apply to others.

16. Yes, as long as you don't demand that the rest of us have to respect him too.

18. I have a friend who is a Catholic priest
And he finds Benedict objectionable.

Of course, my friend could have been a model for the "radical priest" in Paul Simon's song.

19. You're assuming everyone posting here is an actual Democrat
The nuttier and divisive comments I read here are rarely, if ever, echoed at Democratic meet-ups in the real world.

23. People here can express their opinions, whether you like them or not.
If they don't like the pope or don't have two cents worth of caring about him, I can't say
that I blame them but if you do, that's fine too, I guess but don't expect everyone to agree
with you. And also not everyone on DU who claims to be a Dem, is in fact a Dem. Many are here
to disrupt for the elections and that''s their only reason to be here... to sow unrest.
