Aquygen gas...... miracle for our energy starved world?
“I believe that water will one day be employed as fuel, that hydrogen and oxygen which constitute it, used singly or together, will furnish an inexhaustible source of heat and light, of an intensity of which coal is not capable.”

– Jules Verne, The Mysterious Island (1874)

1. No. Electrolysis is an energy whore of a process.
Edited on Wed Apr-16-08 11:20 AM by BadgerLaw2010
And there is no such thing as an over-unity process. Well, other than scams.

9. That has nothing to do with the Laws of Thermodynamics. The process is a loser, like all processes.

10. I did. It's a farce.
A) They need a punch in the face for the audacity of HHO gas. HHO?
B) Superior for heating? In what insane universe splitting water the proper first step for a superior heat generation technique?
C) LOL MAGIC! USE OUR HYDROGEN AND METAL DOESN'T CORRODE!

Every year some bullshit like this gets posted on DU.

12. Crap logic. Police departments used 'gas enhancers' as well.
Didn't mean they did shit.

It's no surprise hydrogen and oxygen burn. That old, old, old news. So is electrolysis.

13. There's a big difference between a water torch and a "miracle energy source".
This site is a SCAM, designed to prey on people
who don't know much about science.

19. I've watched the videos. The guy's selling outlandish uses for a legitimate product.
The guy at least used to have a video where he would grab the tip of the torch to "prove" how cool the gas burned, and then melt a hole in a piece of metal with the flame. You can do that. You can ALSO do it on an oxyacetylene torch--because the flame never gets down to the tip. It's always a fraction of an inch away from the tip of the torch. (It would have to be. Oxyfuel torch tips are made from brass, a metal with a low melting point.)

We've established that what he's selling is a water torch--a tool that converts water into a combustible mixture of hydrogen and oxygen, and burns it without storing the gases. He's got a plumber talking about how quickly he can "weld" copper pipe with this. You SOLDER copper pipe. Welding means melting the base metal, and you don't do that in plumbing. You also don't use oxyactylene torches in plumbing--always air-acetylene, if acetylene is used at all. Oxyacetylene burns too hot.

The system is a very nice water torch, but that's all it is.

17. The guy is selling a welding gas generator
This setup is called a Water Torch. The hose leading to the handpiece is screwed directly into the output of the gas generator. Jewelers love these torches, because they don't have to store compressed (and explosive, in the case of the fuel gas) gas in cylinders on the premises. Read: lower insurance premiums. They also like it because it burns with no soot.

As an auto fuel? You'd have to be fucking NUTS to try this. You'd have two choices: carry the generator on board, meaning you'd need a LOT of electricity on board to run it; or carry a tank of this gas, which just so happens to be at the perfect stoichiometric ratio for rapid and complete combustion. IOW you'd be sitting on a bomb.

View it as a device for making welding fuel--a very expensive one, but that's okay--and there's a place for it.
