Anyone seen ads for "Expelled"?
They've been playing them during "The Daily Show" and "The Colbert Report".

But seem to leave out what the movie is about.

The ads make it seems as if someone is somehow victimizing that poor schlub of a teacher from http://imdb.com/title/tt0091042/">that one movie.

But in reality, the movie is a propaganda film for Cdesign Proponentsists, or as they are better known: creationists (or even better: Christian talibanists).

http://scienceblogs.com/pharyngula/">PZ Myers' blog, Pharyngula has some great stuff about it, which I highly recommend, starting http://scienceblogs.com/pharyngula/2008/03/expelled.php">here.

It seems the anti-science freaks are exploiting the advancements of science to push their crap into public schools.

They have successfully inserted the wedge of "debating the controversy" into public schools and are now using http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fear%2C_uncertainty_and_doubt">uncertainty about what science is to further their uninformed, misguided agenda.

All I gotta say is, public schools are the levees protecting students from the flood of ignorance spewing from these morans.

3. Yes, they are such victims!
The Cdesign Proponentsists are being prevented from foisting their lies in a science classroom!

Think of the children!

Will someone think of the children?

5. I caught part of one of them
Ben Stein, desperately trying to seem "with it" or "hip" and a staged "debate" of such cartoonishness that it makes the old Merrie Melodies six minute reelers look like real life by comparison.

6. The whole thing...
...seems to be a self-fulfilling prophecy, victim complex and cognitive dissonance on a grande scale.

The Cdesign Proponentsists want to push their religion on everyone, so they create a modern-day myth about Jesus and the dinosaurs.

Scientists hear this and after the laughter subsides, insist that only science be taught in science classes.

The law agrees.

The Cdesign Proponentsists then claim their "rights" are being infringed and that no one will let them tell their side of the story.

So, to prove it, they make shit up to bolster their claims.

When scientists hear this (meaning someone did listen, disproving the lie that no one listens), the new lies are once again proven to be just as ignorant as the previous bunch.

To rebutt the scientists arguments, they play victim and create a movie to further clarify what has already been proven and dismissed as falsehoods.

Now, it has been discovered that the makers of the movie stole animation of cell division from a small company and footage from PBS.

One wonders how long it will be before they blame Hollywood for making it possible for them to make their little propaganda film.

7. Trivia about it on IMDB.com is interesting
# Originally filmed with the consent of the scientists depicted as a documentary called "Crossroads" about the intersection of science and religion. Subsequently, the film's title and production company all changed without the knowledge of those they interviewed. The evolutionary biologists depicted in the movie have since objected to the inter-cutting of their interviews with footage of Hitler and Nazi stormtroopers. In response, the producers have labeled these scientists "hypocrites".

# Preview screenings for the movie were held for churches and other Christian groups months in advance, and by invitation only. After a movie critic was inadvertently allowed to view the film early, resulting in a negative review, a policy of requiring viewers to sign nondisclosure agreements was implemented at these screenings. Closer to release, an "RSVP" site was set up to allow members of the public to view the movie in a near-finished state. One of these was evolutionary biologist and Expelled interviewee PZ Myers. Although ejected from the screening, his anonymous guests -- including fellow interviewee, biologist Richard Dawkins -- were able to view the movie.

9. The fucked up thing is the ad I saw was Stein asking "How did life begin?"...
He's a fucking idiot, that's abiogenesis, an entirely different area of study from the theory of evolution.
