Japan Court Rules Sending Troops to Iraq Illegal, Kyodo Says

April 17 (Bloomberg) -- A Japanese court said the country's dispatch of troops to Iraq was unconstitutional, becoming the first court to rule the mission illegal, Kyodo news service said.

Airlifting activities by Japan's Air Self-Defense Force in connection with the U.S.-led war in Iraq violate Japan's constitution, which renounces war, Presiding Judge Kunio Aoyama at the Nagoya High Court in central Japan said, according to Kyodo.

2. The irony is that the constitution was written by the United States
When the US "rebuilt" Japan after WW-II, we added several redundant provisions in the Japanese constitution and laws which prohibited the nation from ever again taking up arms on the world stage.

5. It was the US that rebuilt Japan
After WW-II, Japan was put under US military control; see Wikipedia article Occupied Japan. This occupation officially lasted until April 8, 1952. It was during this time that the Japanese constitution and the Diet were put into place. While others in the Allied coalition had some input and influence in shaping modern Japan, neither Korea nor China were a part of the coalition.

4. A fat chance of that happening here huh
All the death and destruction in Iraq caused by the US today was/is in vain. There is no purpose for our being there other than to steal their oil and to set up shop. No amount of carnage will change that it seems.
