Did the USA boycott the Olympics to support Osama Bin Laden, et.al.?
I'm listening to NPR, discussing the boycott of the Games in Moscow due to the USSR occupation in Afghanistan.

What a strange twist of history, that the USA now occupies Afghanistan
and is hunting Osama Bin Laden instead of sending him support!

So, I wonder, did the USA boycott the Olympic Games while supporting Osama bin Laden?

6. no ... we boycotted the 80 Olympics ...
and gave fodder for Repukes to do yet another "ineffectual Carter years" ... of course, in 1984, the Olympics were in the U.S. ... and whore Reagan was probably even worse than Hitler in promoting the "patriotism" ... because the Soviets boycotted "our" Olympics, we got stuck with Mary Lou Retton ... :puke:

2. Read your history, children
As I remember, Jimmy was indignant that the Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan in 1979, so the boycott next year was him carrying out a threat based on principles.

The US didn't start arming Afghan guerrillas and Osama until AFTER Reagan got into office.

The Soviets did, in turn, boycott the 1984 Olympics held in Los Angeles.

The US did basically what the Soviets did; set up a puppet government that invited them to send troops to prop said government up.
