We only use our fax machine for freight quotes.

But the vast majority of faxes we receive are some bullshit Vacation, Investment, Health Insurance junk.

I don't know why it took so long for me to realize it, but all of those damned things have a toll-free number to call.

And it only takes two buttons (Speaker and Redial) to call those numbers.

The average call - from first button to answer - takes about 22 seconds.

I can call those bastards around 150 times an hour without missing a beat.

Now, if I could just figure out how to program my computer to do it 24 hours a day...

1. Do not call list.

Perhaps try adding your fax number to the national do not call list. I did it with my home fax and the junk eventually stopped.

3. Doesn't work on business lines.

That was the bone that FCC tossed to the bastards.

There is even a note on the bottom of the fax to call to remove your number. That doesn't work, either. The sons-of-bitches have scores of numbers from which to fax.

I think that I may hire someone to punch those buttons all day long.

5. I did that to someone who owed me money, once.

Cheap bastard asked me to not fax him so often, as he had one of those fax machines that used a film roll.

I found out that he was away most Sundays, so I made a loop of paper and painted a broad stripe on it.

Dialed that number and let it run for hours. Let him know it was me who was doing it, too.
