Anybody feel the earthquake this morning?
I was driving to work and didn't feel a thing. Around noon we had an aftershock. I was sitting in my semi tractor talking to another driver and our tractors started shaking like the wind was blowing, but there wasn't any wind.

6. I grew up in Terre Haute... about an hour away from Salin.
Indiana is such a beautiful state-
What do you farm there?
Corn?
Soybeans?

I miss Indiana.

14. I live 50 miles north of Terre Haute.
I don't farm, but there's corn and soybeans everywhere.

2. you'll probably get more aftershocks
It must seem weird, especially located where you are. Have any of the local news shows made any comments about this morning's quake being a *potential foreshock*? Every time they have a sizeable quake in Los Angeles that's the first thing they start broadcasting. It always creeped me out. :scared:

4. Actually today was my third Indiana earthquake. The first one
was in the 80s. It shook the house so much I went out and bought earthquake insurance.

7. I remember the one around 1968...
Now I live in California and just sort of expect them.
Back then, it was quite a shock!

12. I remember the '68' one also.
I was nine years old at the time. Talked to my sister this afternoon and she said it was strong enough to wake her up at 5:00 this morning.

8. Do yourself a favor -- have your agent go over that insurance to make sure EVERYTHING
is up to date, tight as a drum, and everything is covered CORRECTLY.

After the Northridge quake, insurance companies went WILD in finding ways to dis-allow policies. It was heartbreaking watching people having to fight for months to get things fixed that were supposed to be covered. I used to work for the Dept of Insurance in LA, and I what I saw insurance companies do to get out of making payments would make your hair stand on end. Mine usually did on a weekly basis.

Call your insurance guy and ask him for a tune up, just in case. And I hope you won't need it, but it never hurts to be prepared.

13. Thank you for bringing this up....
Allstate just dropped the earthquake rider here in the Midwest....
We're looking at Famer's but they're all going to drop the coverage...
That's right, folks, check the terms of the policy, as concerns the earthquake rider.

5. Been in LA earthquakes and they really test your faith
but I was in Michigan and felt an earthquake years ago.

My Michigan friends laughed and called me crazy.
Next day they hung their heads and presented the Newspaper article.

9. absolutely!
we live in south central Illinois in a 2 story log home in which the living room and upstairs loft are open to the ceiling and large beams are the support system. I was sleeping on a pull-out sofa bed in the living room w/my 3 year old granddaughter as she was spending the night. She didn't even wake up but I was being thrashed around on the flimsy sofa/mattress watching the beams and hoping like hell they were as strong as they looked. very scary stuff!

11. My friend's German Shepherd refused to come in off the deck
last night. Wouldn't come in the house for any reason.

She lives about 60 miles from the epicenter.
