FLDS question:
Did anyone happen to catch Larry King last night?

Larry King was interviewing some of the sects female members. They had a camera crew filming inside the compound.

I was watching and was kinda curious, the compound was pretty nice although sparsely decorated. They seemed to have all the furniture, bedding.. kitchen appliances etc. Plus the buildings were HUGE!

Where do they earn their money? Do the males work? I realize they live pretty frugal, but don't they have to make some sort of money somewhere?

Anyone have any insight on that? I think it would be interesting to know how they sustain themselves.

2. Government contracts
among other things. FLDS members tend to be well-to-do. The quiet scandal is that much of the money pouring into the Texas compound comes from defense contracts.

4. So it;s the Men
who make the money?

Is it men that do not live on the compound?

3. From what I've read, they earn a lot of money in the building and contracting business (free labor,
from all the boys in the sect, starting at a young age, and many of the men). In addition, in each family, there is only one
'legal' wife. All the others (again, from what I've read) apparently receive welfare benefits as 'single mothers.'
Which means, in essence, that you and I are financing their way of life to a great degree.

11. Yeah, that's what it amounts to. Funding pedophilia with our tax dollars, so the
pedophiles can get rich.

8. A large portion of their income is welfare collected by the
single mothers and all the children. Only the first wife is legal. All subsequent wives from the "celestial" or "spiritual" marriages are legally single mothers.

Tom Green went to prison for his little welfare cheating scam and child rape in Utah several years ago. He was also FLDS, IIRC.

The women never see the money, BTW. It gets turned directly over to the FLDS church coffers. The women have to struggle along with the pittance their husbands dole out to them for food and clothing. And if they don't "keep sweet" they can be locked up in isolation on bread and water. Tends to make them uncomplaining.
