I am tired of being played (x post with GD:P)
Even if one doesn't allow the nonstop propaganda to infiltrate ones thoughts and beliefs, it does get tiresome after a time.

I feel as though those who are in "power" think of the rest of us as if we are easily manipulated children. Sure, some are, but many, if not most, are most definitely not.

We are tired of being lied to. Tired of being talked to as though we will believe anything so long as one mentions in the speech "the flag" or "terrorists" or "whatever crap they are peddling this week".

Have you ever been in a relationship in which you felt something was just not quite right, wanted to believe, and ended up discovering that the object of your affection was stealing you blind and making love to others while sleeping in your bed? That is how I feel about this country.

We have plastic wrap around our minds now. We have to rip it off. We have to see the basic truths.

I am tired of the lies.

1. LOL!
First, our political system isn't based on the truths we hold to be self evident, it's based on compromise between human beings with the constitution as our basic framework.

Let me know when you can eat and drink "basic truth" or ride it to work in the morning.

2. I disagree
I think people would rather hear comforting lies than cold hard truth..

Certainly not everyone, but the majority.

I turned off the TV and radio a long time ago.. Controlling your exposure to the propaganda helps considerably.

3. The truth has been hijacked
Most people ARE easily manipulated. They prefer comfortable belief to uncomfortable fact. The Repubs have been making hay from this concept for decades. We are the "reality based community" they loathe; the rest of America will accept anything as long as their beliefs are being validated.

4. Hello, I have a feeling that GD-P has filtered into GD, and I don't like it!
I don't know anything about any of your posting histories in GD-P, and I don't want to know about it here on General Discussion.

5. It is interesting the "relationship" comparison...
I can see it in the media and in the govt

"Have you ever been in a relationship in which you felt something was just not quite right, wanted to believe, and ended up discovering that the object of your affection was stealing you blind and making love to others while sleeping in your bed? That is how I feel about this country."

...I can tell you are a male, because that is the epitome of the bad relationship from a man's viewpoint (just observing, no judgement :) But for me it has also manifested as a mirror of the worst relationship I can imagine...

You know when you feel something isn't quite right, and then you get slapped across the room for asking them to be accountable, like, "where's the money for the electric bill?"...and the next thing you know you are huddling on the floor, already denying that the monster has done this to you and violated your trust - already fixing it in your mind that somehow you must have deserved it or "said it the wrong way" or aproached him at a bad time, etc...

I see the droning of propaganda and continued assaults on our fredoms and plotting and planning and greed and war mongering and terrorism and fascism as a collective abuse of our country. To what end...well to what end does any abuser create his world of lies and deciet and pain?

Control...

If I said I wasn't sometime caught in this cycle of violence myself, I'd be lying.
Honestly, relationships with my family, mentors, my church, friends and sisters who believe in me and hold that Light of Peace are my only refuge. and that is what I have to remind myself is REAL & TRUE. My community, real caring, maybe even some faith (some kind of connection to Creator, however that looks)....that is what will get us through the darkness that is ahead.
