I participated in a military base flea market over the weekend
Edited on Mon Apr-21-08 12:20 PM by lebkuchen
Set up my stall along w/a friend to get rid of the extraneous and unwanteds. To sweeten the deal we taped a big sticky onto a wayward Rush Limbaugh book, "I Told You So, free with any purchase."

We cleared about $400, as well as most of our stall, but all buyers refused the book.

We ended up putting "Rush" in front of the base dumpster, sticky still attached, "free w/any purchase" crossed out.

2. Military friend bought it at the Thrift Shop for $2.00 five years ago
thinking he would read what the gasbag had to say. He never got around to a read, and he can't afford the space.

What is interesting is that of all the military customers, nobody wanted the book, and some made some very humorous comments, like, "Sorry, I'm a liberal....Ooops!" putting finger to mouth as if having said a bad word.

We laughed like hell.

3. LOL - It's bad when even soldier think Rush sucks. :)
What bad for Rush can only be great for America! :)

4. Yeah, and we really tried to ditch the book.
My friend stood in front of the booth, stopping every customer that walked by to hawk Rush.

FRIEND: I'll bet you have a need for a lovely solid oak cabinet, shipped direct from Belgium for just $40, AND with a purchase you get this free book. Schatzie, hold up the book so the customer can see it."

CUSTOMER: Well, I don't need the book but I'll take a look at the cabinet.

(SOLD! to a liberal major, who got a $10 discount!) :)

8. "Liberal Major?"
Man, this gang of thieves and lunatics is really in trouble.

May their rotten excuse for a political party stay completely out of power at least for the rest of my lifetime, until all the scum who have turned it into a racketeering organization are long dead, sinking into the corruption they created.

7. The guy in the stall next to us had read the book already
but the customers hadn't, and they didn't want the book. It inspired lots of funny comments, though, not too harsh since they weren't sure if they'd be hurting our feelings. It was a litmus test, and we were curious how the political winds were blowing on the base.

The GOP should be afraid.
