FBI Will Investigate Jewish Center Vandalism

MIAMI BEACH (CBS4) ―
Federal, state and local police on Wednesday are investigating a fire that damaged a Miami Beach Jewish community center during Passover. The Chabad Shul, located at 2401 Pinetree Dr., was vandalized early Tuesday and its Torah stolen.

FBI Dir. Robert Mueller said to Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz of Florida, a member of the house judiciary committee, in Washington DC., that his agency will investigate the fires that damaged Miami Beach synagogues in the past six months as hate crimes.

The FBI has jurisdiction over hate crimes motivated by intolerance of a person's race, religion, or national origin.

CBS4 Tiffani Helberg was told by congregation members that the Torah, a religious scroll of Jewish laws and customs, a centerpiece of its religion, was taken. Pieces of the Torah were found outside. Its value is more than $40,000.

2. Same type of thing

happened recently in Norwich, NY. Three young teens did tens of thousands of dollars worth of damage. The FBI and local police caught them in 2 days. When my daughters and I volunteered to help with the clean up, we were told that because of the amount of broken glass, ir was being contracted to a professional service.

There is something ugly being unleased these days, and these incidents are a warning. All people of good will need to be very public in taking a stance against this hatred. I also strongly recommend donating to the Southern Poverty Law Center.

Thy'll just pretend to do something while actually doing nothing. The current administration is anti-semite so the FBI will do nothing as usual. I don't think they go as far as to do these sort of things like many people do, but I know they certainlly don't try to stop it.

One thing I wouldn't say of the current administration is that they are anti-semite. They are likely very racist and anti-muslim but anti-semite I don't know.

You know I once had an anti-semite coworker who tried to argue that the Jews deserved every atrocity visited on us, and further that it was gods judgement for not accepting Jesus that we were persecuted by Christians for not accepting Jesus. :crazy:
