Bush never elected? - "Get over it. It's so old by now."
http://www.crooksandliars.com/2008/04/24/60-minutes-scalia-on-bush-v-gore-2000-get-over-it/

During an interview set to air on this Sunday’s 60 Minutes, Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia said that people need to get over the court’s 5-4 decision to select George Bush over Al Gore in the 2000 presidential election:
Scalia repeated his earlier statement that people should “get over” the court’s ruling in 2000 that halted Florida’s vote recount, giving the presidential election to Republican Bush over Democrat Al Gore.

“I say nonsense,” Scalia said, when asked about critics who say the 5-4 ruling was based on politics and not justice. “Get over it. It’s so old by now.” Read on…

A felony that continues cannot be considered to be beyond the statute of limitations.

years to come. This Administration has not only almost destroyed America, but has done untold damage to the rest of the world in the past 7 1/2 years that will not be forgotten.

Oh sure people were mad at him at the time. But that was so long ago. Get over it. It's so old by now.

And why can't Germany put Hitler on a stamp? Hmm? Bygones are bygones.
If we can't forgive and forget after all this time maybe WE are the ones with the problem.

13. Will that be Scalia's ruling the next time a case involving a murderer comes before him?
"Sure, I did the murder. But that was years ago. Get over it. It's so old by now. No need to execute me for something I did so long ago."

16. Slippery Slope 1/2 truth
Bush v. Gore, 531 U.S. 98 (2000), was a United States Supreme Court case heard on December 11, 2000. In a per curiam opinion, by a vote of 7-2, the Court held that the Florida Supreme Court's method for recounting ballots was unconstitutional, and by a vote of 5-4, the Court held that no alternative method could be established within the time limits established by Florida Legislature.<1> The per curiam opinion was argued on the basis of Equal Protection.<2>

20. The absolutely most absurd aspect of the case
was the arguing of equal protection. That was likely the first and only time the GOP argued something based on the 14th amendment.

21. it's part of history now, and people might as well let it stop festering in them...
it's not going to be redeemed, the war in iraq is not going to be un-fought, and nobody is going to be brought back to life. it was a coup, but it was done under the flag of law, and nobody can ever be held accounrtable.

perhaps prosecution can someday be brought against the perps of the illegal iraq war- but we all know that it never will.
