My neighbor just lost her 4 year to Lung Cancer/brain cancer.
Edited on Fri Apr-25-08 01:03 PM by Ichingcarpenter
My other neighbor lost her husband 2 years ago to an odd liver/blood cancer.
My other neighbor lost their 6 year old dog to brain cancer.
My other neighbor lost the fight 6 months ago to lung cancer.

The 4 year old lived right next door to me at these units until he was two, when the parents moved
to a house and he was diagnosed with brain cancer which they thought they
had under control but spread quickly to the lungs later. Crap.

I go to the funeral Monday.

What's going on in your hood? Something carcinogenic in the air?

3. sorry to hear that.....my condolenses go out to the victims
we are surely seeing a rise in all forms of cancer in younger and younger people each year. the toxins in our environment have reached epidemic proportions, yet the chemical companies, GM foods, the petroleum industry and every other destructive industry continue to churn.

makes no sense to me.

4. OMG! Have you had the area checked?
Sounds odd that that many people in a small area would have cancer.

13. There are 4 old oil sumps that are in the condo section
Which the California EPA said were safe years ago when they built the units 18 years ago, but the developer who built these has a record of shady business practices, including not following permits. All of these people had lived here for years.

Every single one of these neighbors drank the water from the tap, which I don't, and my dog doesn't. I get my portable water from other sources. The water comes through the city, maybe I'm reading too much into this but these are rare cancers.

I'm in shock about the little kid since I was there when they brought him home from the birth and played with him over at their new house.

6. I'm so sorry
I would, however, suggest a check of the grounds and general area. When cancers like these suddenly start cropping up amongst people not blood related, one has to wonder a bit.

8. I'm so sorry
There just aren't words for how awful that is. Especially since they thought they had it under control, only to have to face the diagnosis all over again--heartbreak squared. So sad, and such a young child... I'm so sorry.

16. Ichingcarpenter, my condolences.
Sounds like there are possible environmental risk factors (a cancer belt). Please begin to check.

19. ...

Funerals for children are so much tougher to attend. I'm sorry, Iching. I pray for the little boy's family to find their peace. :grouphug:

You are there for them; and that matters so much, in the short and long-term.

Being there.
