Christian Newswire: Overcome your Gay in just one weekend!
Weekend Program for Men Overcoming Homosexuality Comes to Southern California in May, Tennessee in June

4 Out of 5 Past Participants Report Diminished Homosexual Attractions

Contact: Rich Wyler, Founder and Director, People Can Change, 434-985-8551

MEDIA ADVISORY, April 25 /Christian Newswire/ -- When a man's Christian faith collides head-on with homosexual attractions that he doesn't want and feels powerless to change, the result can be years of struggle and confusion for himself and his loved ones.

But a personal-growth weekend called {b]Journey Into Manhood :eyes: – coming to San Bernardino County, Calif. May 9 to 11 and to Nashville, Tenn. June 20 to 22 – is proving to have a significant long-term impact on men seeking to overcome unwanted same-sex attractions.

In fact, four out of five men who have participated in the Journey Into Manhood weekend reported a decrease in unwanted homosexual attractions when surveyed between six months and six years later. More than half reported an increase in heterosexual attractions, and nine out of 10 reported a decrease in distress, shame or self-condemnation.

Journey Into Manhood is a 48-hour personal-growth weekend for men who are serious about resolving unwanted homosexual attractions. Each weekend is led by men who have overcome homosexuality themselves. It was created jointly in 2002 by David Matheson, a licensed professional counselor in private practice in Utah, and Rich Wyler, a professional life coach in Virginia who is also the founder and director of the non-profit People Can Change organization that runs Journey Into Manhood.

The program is founded on the belief that, for many men, homosexuality can be understood as a sexualized craving for masculinity, often based on both envy and fear of other men, or of not feeling secure in their own masculinity or in their attachments with other males.

The solution, People Can Change teaches, includes developing one's own internal sense of masculinity as well as building healthy, non-sexual attachments to other males. It also includes resolving buried emotional pain, fulfilling unmet emotional needs, and yielding one's life to God or a "higher power."

Journey Into Manhood is limited to 32 participants and has a volunteer staff of about 20. The high staff-to-participant ratio ensures significant individual participation, including journaling, visualizations, small-group sharing, and releasing pent-up anger or grief. The cost is $650, which includes all meals and two-nights stay at the camp or retreat center.

2. I was going to go to this
but I took the $650 and put it toward going to Gay Pride in Amsterdam. (Don't I wish)

Isn't it a coincidence that they're running this scam right after the stimulus checks come out?

3. Now that you mention it, this "weekend" would be a great place to meet guys!
Wouldn't the planning committee be pissed off if we scheduled little "after hours" mixers? :)

16. Probably not that weekend
They will be "full of the spirit" and "walking in the Lord."

But give them about six weeks of repressing their desires -- eight max -- and those participants will be ready for some red-hot monkey sex. No Viagra needed.

Just pass out your name and number. Wait six weeks and the calls will start coming in.

6. Do they do this
for lesbians as well? I really don't know, it always seems to be focused on gay men.

Another way to suck money for their religion and themselves. Journey into manhood. I don't know if I should puke like you or just laugh my ass off. Simply disgusting.

12. I will never understand why some Christians focus so much on Homosexuality.
When it played such a small roll in the Bible, I would argue to any Christian that adultery is a bigger sin that homosexuality since adultery is referenced a lot more in the Bible. I am going to call the number and ask when their weekend program for Christian infidelity is going to be.

15. The bible and homosexuals
"The Bible contains 6 admonishments to homosexuals and 362 admonishments to heterosexuals. That doesn't mean that God doesn't love heterosexuals. It's just that they need more supervision."

14. Lonely, gay men, meet the self-loathing man of your dreams for $650!
Edited on Fri Apr-25-08 06:14 PM by IanDB1
Also, $650 is a cheap amount to pay for a reporter doing a story on the ex-gay movement to get an inside scoop.
