Note to John McCain: Amnesia is NOT a communicable disease
In an attempt to "distance" himself from Cheneybush, McCain went to New Orleans
and declared the Cheneybush response to Katrina as "terrible and disgraceful."

So far, so good. No arguments there. But: McCain voted against the $29 billion
2006 bill that included $29 billion for recovery of the region. He said the bill
included too much pork elsewhere. It might well have, but pork spending has never
bothered Republicans before, unless it was solely for Democratic areas. McCain also
voted against bills with financial help for veterans, and he voted for the terrible
and disgraceful invasion of Iraq, a major cause of the lack of funds for Gulf Coast
recovery and veterans' benefits. Not only that, but he STILL thinks that vote was
right, and wants to continue the conflict until he is satiated. He knows we won't get
the terrrrrists, he just wants to "win," whatever he might mean by that.

So, just because John McCain suddenly agrees with the rest of the world that the
Cheneybush reaction (or, rather, lack thereof) to the Katrina disaster was a disgrace,
that does not mean that McCain's own disgraceful stances on just about everything else
are to be overlooked. Indeed, this image here should remind us of just where he REALLY stands:

P.S.
I apologize in advance for posting something that concerns the Democratic Party as a whole,
and not a hate thread against any one particular member of our own party.

1. And the bush was celebrating McSame's birthday in
Arizona as the people in New Orleans drowned. I wonder if McSame told the bush to get his rear end in gear and go help those dying Americans?

2. What chance is there of that having happened?
About as much chance as there is of Scalia apologizing for Bush v. Gore

6. Well that was Gore's fault!
:eyes: And McCain is just demonstrating that he will say anything to get elected. Too bad about that pic of him and pResident pissant circulating on the internets while NOLA was under water. Damn Gore! That's his fault too, for inventing the internets!

3. Agreed. But, I would change just one thing...
...every where you post "CheneyBush" replace it with GOP.

And then replace McCain with GOP.

It is much more truthful when you do that.

4. Wouldn't that involve the GOP distancing itself from itself?
I thought only we did that kind thing?

5. The GOP does it all the time.
They pretend they are not the party of pedophiles because every single time one of their "leaders" is busted in the pants of a minor, they call it an "isolated incident". And emphasis is put on the individual.

I feel it's high time we start lumping all those like-minded authoritarian GOPers in the same filthy pot.

7. The Repukes don't seem to have figured out that tapes exist of them saying things
Like Rush, Bill-O, Hannity, and most of the repukes in congress. The "I didn't say that" meme doesn't work anymore. The dems have to get better at pointing that out.

8. McCain given a "Free Ride"?
I got a chance to interview the author of Free Ride,a book about McCain's soft treatment by the media. You can read an excerpt of the book on the site. This is an excerpt from the website:

#10 John McCain has considerable foreign policy expertise.

The media have said over and over that McCain has "credibility" and "expertise" on foreign policy. It's worth asking what that expertise consists of.

In the February 26 Democratic debate in Cleveland, moderator Brian Williams told Sen. Barack Obama that he "could be going into a general election against a Republican with vast foreign policy expertise and credibility on national security." For almost his entire career, foreign policy has been regarded as one of John McCain's strengths. But a closer examination of his record contradicts that image. Take Iraq. McCain was one of the strongest proponents of the war to oust Saddam Hussein. In the run-up to the war, a September 29, 2002, online CNN article quoted him predicting, "We're not going to get into house-to-house fighting in Baghdad. We may have to take out buildings, but we're not going to have a bloodletting of trading American bodies for Iraqi bodies." In May 2003, McCain wrote: "Thanks to a war plan that represented a revolutionary advance in military science, to the magnificent performance of our armed forces, and to the firm resolve of the President, the war in Iraq succeeded beyond the most optimistic expectations." Asked whether Iraqis would greet us as liberators, he replied, "Absolutely. Absolutely." (He would later lambaste the Bush administration for giving the public "too rosy a scenario" about Iraq.)

My interview was with Paul Waldman and you can listen by clicking on "audio" here, but it was cowritten by David Brock, who wrote Blinded by the Right, a favorite of mine.

9. Brian Williams is as close to a tool of the RNC as you can get
He'll give McCain a free ride if it means pushing his mother out of the car.
Williams didn't even bat an eye when doing a one-on-one interview with Bush
while Bush explained, not once, but multiple times, that he had a "eco-lectic"
reading list for the summer.
